A Couple of Nice College Hockey Goals

Former Grafton North Dakota product and current Air Force Academy Cadet forward Chad Demers, scores the game-tying goal against Bentley on a nice rebound. That's goal number seven on the year for Demers. Demers is a junior and spent last summer training at Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.

Gophers forward Seth Ambroz scores the game winning goal with 26-seconds left in the game to give Minnesota the victory. That's also goal number seven on the year for Ambroz.

UND Women end Minnesota's 62 game win streak

Ironically, the UND women were the last team to beat the Gopher women 62 games ago. Hats off to them.

North Dakota v Duluth

North Dakota is coming out of a weekend series where due to injury, sickness and a strong effort by a Dean Blais team they just barely hung on for a split.

Now it's time to square off versus Minnesota Duluth where we are still expected to be less than 100%. Herald Beat Report Brad Elliot Schlossman says he has no idea what UND's line up might be.

I think if we're to have any success this weekend I think the team is going to have to really dig deep and gut it out.  Given that I think this video is appropriate.

Kyle Rau charging penalty (Video)

You're the referee, you make the call. What penalty would you call in this situation? Of course Gopher fans are going to say that a two-minute penalty is the right call, but you have a defenseless player with his head down, engaged in the play and Gophers forward Kyle Rau comes from all the way across the ice to blast Notre Dame forward Vince Hinostroza. I think it's a senseless play. Hopefully Hinostroza is okay, it looked like he suffered a bit of whiplash on the play.

Sunday Morning brings good news, Drake Caggiula okay

Scary moments during last night's game and the injury really put a damper on the game. No one wants to see anyone carried off of the ice on a stretcher. We've seen it a few times in the last 10-years and it's something you never forget. After the game, you could tell that the players and head coach were definitely affected by what they saw on the ice. Good  news began to emerge from Danny Kristo's twitter feed during the later part of the third period.

NCAA Hypocrisy? Does anyone see anything wrong here?

Ah what the heck... Does anyone see anything wrong here? A white person dressed up like a Native American. Yet the Fighting Sioux nickname is offensive? Give me a break. I know that FSU has tribal support, but what is more offensive? I had a sociology professor in graduate school that said Native American mascots were a red face minstrel. Maybe this is what he was talking about? I am not against Native American nicknames, but this is ridculous.

(Video) Canada-USA women's hockey fight

In case you haven't seen it, here's a good ole fashion line brawl with the team USA and Canada women. You might notice a few familiar names. Oh yeah! Canada won the game 3-2.

Womens Hockey: USA and Canada line brawl

Yesterday, the USA and Canada women's team squared off in a pre-Olympic hockey game in Burlington, Vermont. During the third period, former UND All-American forward Monique Lamoureux bumped the Canadian goalie Shannon Szabados causing a skirmish. Actually, some might refer to it as a line brawl. Here's a link to the video, you can take a look for yourself. USA was unable to complete the comeback and ended up losing the game 3-2.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Hayley Wickenheiser set up two goals and goalie Shannon Szabados held on after a late brawl to help Canada beat the United States 3-2 on Saturday night in the opening game of the pre-Olympic tour.

After a U.S. player clipped Szabados outside her crease with 3:03 left, all 10 skaters squared off and two from each team were charged with major penalties for roughing and game misconducts.

"We had a similar scrap in 2010, so I guess we have one every Olympic cycle to get it out of our system," said Wickenheiser who has been a member of the Canadian national team since 1993. "It was kind of fun to see, and it brought a lot of intensity to another

2013-14 Atlantic Hockey Pre-Season Poll

I know this is late, I forgot to put this up. Niagara was picked to finish first in the AHA this season by the AHA's coaches. Niagara lost to UND in the first round of the 2013 NCAA West Regional that was held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The Delusional Rantings of Bison fan

Check out the delusional ranting and raving of  John Neis, originally I had incorrectly said this was the delusional rantings of Lakes Buffoon as I call him, yeah that one that got himself in trouble not too long ago. This isn't him. I must apologize to Samuel Paul Humann aka Lakes Bison. Don't worry he's still deranged too.

That being said, as long as the AG School aka NDSU keeps winning, you're going to see the belligerence of fans like this out in full force. Just thought you might like to see this, it's definitely funny. NDSU is good, but there have been better teams in FCS Football.

Team USA Women's Hockey - Bring On the World

This is a really good video that someone had posted on-line. Kind of gets your blood going for Sochi, Russia. You will notice some very familiar names in the video as well. Obviously, you have Grand Forks own, former UND Women's Hockey players Jocelyne and Monique Lamoureux... Jessica Vetter was a goaltender at Wisconsin. You will also see a few others name that are familiar as well.

Happy Birthday Herb Brooks

Happy birthday to Herb Brooks one of the greatest hockey coach's of our time. I do remember the 1980 Olympic team beating the hated Russians. I was 13 years old at the time. It's hard to believe that the legendary  Herb Brooks has been gone for 10 years already (August 6, 2003).
