(Video) Game 2 Stanley Cup Finals: Daniel Paille goal wins it for Boston in game two
Boston
Bruins forward Daniel Paille scored at the 13:48 mark of the first overtime,
to give the Boston Bruins the win and tie the series 1-1. With the win, the
Boston Bruins go back to Boston with the series momentum and the home ice
advantage.
If you watched the first period, you saw that the Bruins were on their heels for most of the first period. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask held down the fort until his Bruins teammates could get back into the game. After the game, some of the Boston Bruins thought this was one of their worst periods of the season. On the flip side, the overtime period was one of their best of the season.
How one sided was it? In the first the first period, the Blackhawks out shoot the Bruins 19-4. The score probably could have been 4-0 after one period.
The Bruins would get the momentum back in the second period and would out shoot the Blackhawks 16-9 the rest of the way in regulation. The Bruins also out shoot the Blackhawks in the overtime period as well 8-6.

Second Round: Former College Hockey Players in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs (5/23/2013)
NHL's Stanley Cup. (Photo credit: Wikipedia) |
Here is the list of NHL hockey players that are currently playing in the second round of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffsthat have played college hockey (Division I & III).
The players are listed by their NHL team. These are players that have played in at least “one” Stanley Cup Playoff game during in the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs. I have also listed their point totals as well.
This list doesn’t include players from teams that have been eliminated. The list doesn’t include players that are currently injured, or on their teams roster, but haven’t played in the Stanley Cup Playoff games yet. I will update the list as much as I can.
Points Lead changes hands
We have a tightening at the top of the points standings. Former Vermont Catamout and current Chicago Blackhawk forward Patrick Sharp (6g-4a—10pts) is tied for the lead with former Wisconsin Badgers and current San Jose Shark forward Joe Pavelski (4g-6a—10pts).
Here’s how the rest of the top five for former college hockey players, currently playing in the Stanley Cup playoffs shakes out.
In third place; the Pittsburgh Penguins have a pair of players, former Gopher defenseman Paul Martin (2g-7a—9pts) is tied team mate former Ferris State Bull Dog forward Chris Kunitz (4g-5a—9pts).
Ottawa Senators forwards, former Notre Dame Irish forward Erik Condra (1g-6a—7pts) is tied for fifth with teammate former Wisconsin Badgers forward Kyle Turris (5g-2a—7pts)
1. Patrick Sharp, F, Vermont, 8GP, (6g-4a—10pts)Joe Pavelski, F, Wisconsin, 8GP, (4g-6a—10pts)3. Paul Martin, D, Minnesota, 10GP, (2g-7a—9pts)Chris Kunitz, F, Ferris State, 10GP, (4g-5a—9pts)5. Erik Condra, F, Notre Dame, 9GP, (1g-6a—7pts)Kyle Turris, F, Wisconsin, 9GP, (5g-2a—7pts)
The Wisconsin Badgers are well represented in the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs; if my math is correct they have six players that are still currently playing in the second round of the SCP.

Wild win in a Shootout 3-2
The WCHA was well represented tonight. Here is the video of the shootout. Shooting is former Fighting Sioux forwards Zach Parise and Jonathan Toews. Also, Mikko Koivu, Patrick. Kane, former Saint Cloud State Husky Matt Cullen and Patrick Sharp shootout attempts.
Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews has a 50 percent success rate in the shootouts. That's incredible in my opinion.

A couple of options for the Wild...
I think the Wild should trade defenseman Brett Burns to another team so they can unload his fat contract and then pick up some offense talent. I think Patrick Sharp, Dustin Byfuglien or Kris Versteeg would be nice additions to the Wild line up. The Blackhawks are going to have to move a few players to get under the salary cap. The rule that punishes the Blackhawks because Jonahtan Toews won the Conn Smythe, is a horrible rule.
Seis: It'll be interesting what Chicago does this week. Patrick Sharp, Dustin Byfuglien and/or Kris Versteeg could be cap casualties. The Blackhawks were over the cap about $2.5 million this year, and Jonathan Toews had a $1.3 million bonus for winning the Conn Smythe. And since they were already over, all this will be charged to next year's cap. So while the official number hasn't been released, the Blackhawks cap could be about $4 million lower than everybody else's next year.I still to this day can't figure out why the Boston Bruins sent the Chicago Blackhawks Kris Versteeg for Brandon Bochenski? That trade is a really head scratchier. No offense to former Fighting Sioux forward Brandon "Bucks" Bochenski but Kris Versteeg has scored 101 points in two plus seasons in the NHL and Brandon Bochenski has played with six NHL teams and never played more than 40 games in a season.
In essense, a bunch of sportswriters' votes (Toews) cost the Blackhawks $1.3 million of cap space next year. Not that Toews didn't deserve it, but you know what I mean.
The Wild would love Sharp if he's available, but I'm sure so would about a dozen other teams. They'd like Byfuglien, too, but as his mom told me in that feature I wrote on Big Buff before the Finals, she doesn't think the Wild would be a good place for him. As she said, "too many relatives, too close by." I'm sure the Wild like Versteeg, but I just don't see it being "the fit."
I think Stephen Weiss is somebody the Wild would love, but I just don't know if Florida trades him. I've mentioned Carter before.
The Wild again is looking for a big center, but as I mentioned above, any significant trade that would include somebody like Burns I would guess has to be for somebody that's in his 20s with a good chunk of contract left. [Russo's Rants]
