Montreal Canadiens Alexei Emelin Hits Jason Spezza (Video)
I am sure that Montreal Canadiens fans are very quiet tonight after watching this transpire.
I am not a fan of Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin, can't stand the kind of player that he is.
That being said, I am not necessarily suggesting the league suspend the Habs defenseman, but I just want to illustrate that he's not a clean player. This is a dangerous hit that need to be punished more severely. I do like that fact that the officials gave him a five-minute major. I believe it was the right call in this situation.
It will be interesting to see if the league give him anything especially after he was fined in November by the NHL's Department of Players Safety.

Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic boards Canadiens defenceman Alexei Emelin
Three nights ago, Milan Lucic was penalized two minutes for boarding Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. This is the replay of the hit. You can see that Emelin turns at the last moment. I don't really agree with the call in question, but oh well.
One has to wonder if Lucic was trying to send a message.
Apparently, Lucic also made an obscene gesture to the Montreal fans and was fined $5,000.00. Yesterday, Lucic apologized for his behavior. What's troubling to me is that the league is more concerned about obscene behavior than dangerous hits. To me, that's a travesty.

Benoit Pouliot Boards Alexei Emelin
First off, these are hits that need to be removed from the game of hockey. New York Rangers forward Benoit Pouliot saw numbers and shouldn't have hit Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin.
All right, but the acting job to sell the penalty was ridiculous, that was worthy of a unsportsmanlike penalty itself. And of course the Canadiens fans wanted a five-minute major on Pouliot. Thoughts?
Brutal blindside hit by Benoit Pouliot on Alexei Emelin who headed to the dressing room. He should have been tossed. #GoHabsGo #NYRangers

Milan Lucic's trip through the hand shake line. Lucic Threatens Dale Weise and Alexei Emelin
At the end of the game, Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic used the handshake line to say his piece to Montreal Canaidens Dale Weise and Alexei Emelin. According to Weise, Lucic threatened him. Traditionally, the handshake line is considered sacred ground and it a taboo to start something in the handshake line. Once the game is over, it's over, the handshake line is supposed to be devoid of extracurricular activities.
From Michael Hurley of CBS Boston.
Weise didn’t repeat exactly what Lucic said, but TSN’s Aaron Ward reportedly watched slowed down video that showed Lucic telling Weise, “I’m going to [expletive] kill you next year.”
“You look at a guy like Shawn Thornton who has been around the league and he plays hard and he plays that role and he had good things to say to everybody,” Weise told the media. “He [lost] with class and Milan Lucic just couldn’t do that. Well I won’t get into what he said — it’s just poor, it’s a poor way to lose.”
Weise says Lucic threatened him in the handshake and said something similarly threatening to Emelin. Emotional series ends with tough words.

All class, Milan Lucic pelted with trash as he leaves the ice in Montreal
The Canadiens fans are unhappy with Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic as is pelted with trash as he leaves the ice. s/t the score.

Another game, and another cup check. This time Andrei Markov spears Zdeno Chara in the family jewels. I would like to know what the cup check count is up to? You have to give the Canadiens coaching staff credit for not having Alexei Emelin and P.K. Subban on the ice at the end of the game. All in good fun right?
(Video) Milan Lucic runs over Alexei Emelin
Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic absolutely destroy Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin with a good, hard, legal check. Emelin didn't seem quite right after this hit.

Is Milan Lucic playing with fire?
First, Milan Lucic will not be fined, suspended or even slapped by the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety for his latest stick transgression. That being said, the Montreal Canadiens, and their fans were up in arms with the Boston Bruins tough guy and his latest cup check of his favorite dance partner Hab's defenseman Alexei Emelin. Let's just say, those two have a history.
Another game, another Lucic cup check. We got quit a history starting to develop here. Emelin isn't going to fight Lucic or anyone else. There's a reason for that, and Taylor Shire from the Bleacher Report tells us why.
Last night, at the 12:05 mark of the third period, Lucic again stuck his stick in Emelin's nether region. Like most of us watching, it was so subtle that we didn't see it. For the most part, the play went undetected, even by the television announcers. After the play in question, the two separated without incident and went their separate ways. After the whistle, Looch whispered sweet nothings in Emelin's ear. I am sure they weren't exchanging phone numbers.
I would say that Lucic is starting to develop a nasty reputation of having a way ward stick. This way ward stick, seems to keep connecting with his opponents' testicles. In my opinion, that's bush league, Lucic is better than that.
After reading the book "The Code" - one might say that Lucic has broken the hockey code by doing these types of bush league tactics. Let's not forget, that turnabout is also fair play. Someday, someone is going to catch him with a retaliation type hit. Lucic brought this on himself.
Lastly, I am a Boston Bruins fan, for that I make no apologies, but I must say that these incidents are starting to become a regular occurrence. This is disappointing. Again, Lucic is better than this, he doesn't need to resort to these types of dirty, cheap hits.
At what point does the NHL step in and sanction him a punishment that more teeth to it, it's not like he hasn't been warned. Before we go there, the Hab's aren't a bunch of saints and they don’t hold the moral high ground, either. Last night, Zdeno Chara was caught with a vicious slash by a Hab’s player as well.
No hearing or fine for Milan Lucic after "spearing" Alexei Emelin in 3rd period last night. #canadiens #bruins #nhl #tvasports

Another game, another Lucic cup check. We got quit a history starting to develop here. Emelin isn't going to fight Lucic or anyone else. There's a reason for that, and Taylor Shire from the Bleacher Report tells us why.
During a 2009 playoff game, while playing with Kazan AK-Bars in the Kontinental Hockey League, Emelin got into a fight with Alexander Svitov, who rearranged Emelin’s face. Emelin was left face down, bleeding profusely on the ice after taking a couple solid punches to the face.
Emelin had a concussion, a broken nose and needed facial reconstruction. Now he has several metal plates under his left eye. So, that’s a good enough reason not to fight Malone. Why risk more injury to your already-injured face? There could be long-term effects.

(Video) Canadiens Alexei Emelin's elbows the Flyers Steve Downie.
Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin's connect with the elbows on Philadelphia Flyers forward Steve Downie. Emelin was give a five-minute major penalty for elbowing and a game misconduct. You have to wonder if there will be a call from the NHL's Department of Player Safety? Personally, I don't think it's worthy of a suspension. But the video is not very good either.
EDIT: After watching this video, Emelin clearly caught Downie with a chicken wing elbow. This the kind of hits that the NHL is looking to eliminate from the game of hockey. Emelin might be getting a game or two for that hit.

David Krejci hit on Brendan Gallagher and Alexei Emelin collides with Milan Lucic
I find it funny that Canadiens defenseman Francis Bouillon tries to fight David Krejci for his nice hit on Brendan Gallagher, but of course the minute that Boston Bruins Andrew Ference steps in for Krejci, Bouillon acts like your typical Montreal Canadien and drops to the ice and wants nothing to do with Ference.
How about this attempted hit by Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin on Milan Lucic? Yeah, that didn't work well for him, did it?

Marchand’s hit on Emelin
It looks like the “little ball of hate” Brad Marchand’s has escaped supplementary discipline this time around but checkout his hit on Alexei Emelin of the Montreal Canadians. For his efforts Marchand received 2 minute penatly for clipping Emelin. It would appear that Marchand has not learned from his five game suspension.
John Shannon tweet,
NHL has looked at BMarchand clipping penalty on Emelin last night. Don’t expect anymore discipline from the play. He might get a phone call.
