Toews and Backes fight

For the ten people that haven't seen this fight, here is the video from the Toews and Backes fight. A Maverick and a Sioux getting after it. After tonight the Fighting Sioux favorite dance partners come to town.

BallHype: hype it up!

  1. Also, I don't know if any Mavs will go at it with Sioux players this weekend. As far as I know, there isn't any bad blood going on between certain players...yet:)

  2. I thought the fight was pretty close :p I don't think there is any bad blood between the two teams yet. I figured I would catch you with the Mavericks being the Sioux's favorite Dance partners.

  4. Close?!? Are you kidding me? Almost all of Toews' punches landed in the air...few connected with Backes while Backes got quite a few punches in on Toews. Take off your emerald glasses, Toews got his butt kicked!

  5. Amy I was kidding. You need to take off your purple glasses. :p

It was relatively close, he didn't look like a rag dool after a Boogie beat down.

  6. I've had special LASIK surgery that implanted purple tints in my eyes forever! :)

  7. Toews got worked... but its not like he fought some light weight euro cry baby. It was Backes, the guy is a bad ass, I love the way he plays the game. I really admire Toews for fighting him, good to see a captian stand up for himself. He could have turtled (see matt greene below) but he hung on and tried to throw some punches. I would want no part of dropping the gloves with Backes.

  8. yeah Chet I was impressed with Toews not turtling as well. Backes is one tough SOB, if you go to hockey fights he has been in a few of them.

  9. Backes lost some credibility. Toews gets even more respect in my book. I'm a Blues fan, and many after the game thought it was a mismatch for Toews.

Backes led the league a few years ago in hits for half the season. When you're an NHL Teams leader in hits, you need to learn to fight. He's learned from David Koci, DJ King, Cam Janssen, and other ex players Tony Twist, and Kelly Chase. He's probably one of the top 10 power forward fighters in the league that have scored more then 40 points in the league past 2 years.

It was Toews 2nd fight, and also look at Toews draft year, nobody who was drafted around him has fought yet. LOL Look at Erik Johnson, the guy is like 240lbs, and hasn't even come close to showing physicality on the Blue Line.
