Here is the latest NCAA round up.
Goon’s Match up of the weekend:
Minnesota Golden Gophers take on the Hockey East Power University of New Hampshire Wildcats. The Wild Cats from New Hampshire travel west to face another WCHA team for a second year in a row. Last year, the Wildcats made the trip to North Dakota for a two game series. The Gophers are led up front by junior forward Ryan Stoa 6-4-10 and super freshman Jordan Schroeder 2-6-8. Both players have been nothing short of phenomenal early on. The Wildcats are led by sophomore James van Riemsdyk who is 4-3-7 in seven games so far this season.
In goal, the Gophers are led by sophomore Alex Kangas who has 4-0-2 record and goals against average 2.11, with a save percentage of .922. The Wildcats are led by junior goaltender Brian Foster who has a 4-1-1 record. His, goals against average 1.49 with a gaudy save percentage of .951. Goals could be hard to come by this weekend, proving to be a low scoring weekend for hockey. The game can be seen on Fox Sports Net.
Prediction: Tie Friday and UNH wins 3-2 on Saturday.

Goon, MIAMI!?!? I mean honestly, I'm not as big of a homer as most, but MIAMI!? But I guess it's better to keep them overrated the whole year, and then watch them struggle when it comes tourney time..
ReplyDeleteI was torn on that one, I was going to put MSU-M or even UMD but I think we need to keep MIAMI over rated so they can stumble in the NCAA's yet again ;) I think they are decent.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Princeton is going there. I think people are ranking them high based on their high shot total against UND in the NCAA playoffs from last season. The EZAC is not on par with the other leages in my opinion.
Ya, I love it, when the EZAC teams are ranked every week. Don't get me wrong, Holy Cross-MN games can and will happen 1 out of 100. But I think sometimes these players and teams think they're great because they put up 6-7 goals a game and avg 34+ shots a game in thier league.. But when they play WCHA teams they sputter to 1-3 goals, and lucky to break 25 shots.. Oh well, like both NHL and NCAA way too early to give the Championship to someone..
ReplyDeleteThe retardation on here is ridiculous. I'd love for you to find a team that puts up 7 goals in ECAC Hockey. No shit the conference isn't as good as the WCHA but that doesn't mean they don't have a good team.
ReplyDeleteThe last time the EZAC won an NCAA title was 1989. Hum, the last time an EZAC team went to the frozen four was 1998?
ReplyDeleteCornell, 2003. And what a team did in year's past has no bearing on this year. Kind of like how the Republicans won in 2004 and got shit stomped in 2008.
