Duncan goal and Hextall penatly.
Watch this sweet goal by Duncan, at the end of the play you will see the check by Hextall that landed in the stands for the rest of the night. Typical call WCHA official Don "I make shit up as I go" Adam. Folks, there is no way in hell that was worthy of a five minute major. Especially, after all of the Checking From Behind calls that went uncalled by Don "I make shit up as I go" Adam on the Sioux players.
Props to BaderSioux for the video.
Hextall goal, check out the check that he finishes.
Jason Gregoire Goal wow, is that a sweet goal.

Not really seeing the penalty on Hextall, especially if others went uncalled as you said.
ReplyDeleteAnd wow Gregoire is good.
Yeah, that is the check at the end of the goal that was called a CFB.
ReplyDeleteJust a heads up, Hextall has two "ls" I believe. Hopefully he'll score enough so we get to see his name over and over again.
ReplyDeleteSioux15 good call.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why at this level of hockey you can have such poor officiating. I can't find the WCHA rules online but I'm pretty sure that the player has to be boarded from behind for there to be a dq. Regardless of that it was still a weak call. A 2 minute roughing at the most. If I was Adams I would fear for my job. Then again if I was Adams I would be a complete moron so I would probably have bigger problems in life to deal with.
ReplyDeleteFrom the NCAA rule book:
ReplyDelete""PENALTY—Major and game misconduct or disqualification at the
discretion of the referee.
Note: The committee reminds coaches and players that the responsibility remains with the player approaching an opponent along the boards in this
rule. While players turning to draw penalties are a concern, the positive change in behavior the committee observed outweighs this issue. Any penalty in relation to this rule along the boards or into the goal cage must be a major
penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification.""
So there is a loophole for the refs using "discretion" but the rule cearly states "approaching a player along the boards." So yes, Adams is a complete tool.
I'm not arguing that Don Adam is anything more than a moron, but it does say one sentence after the one you picked out:
ReplyDelete"Any penalty in relation to this rule along the boards or
**into the goal cage**
must be a major
penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification."
The first sentence merely states that its the guy doing the hitting who has to make a decision of whether or not he's going to obliterate the guy he's going to hit.
And hitting a guy into/over the goal is almost more dangerous, if not just as dangerous (which is why it is covered in a rule) as smashing a guy into the boards. Bones break just as easily on a big steel pipe as they do on reinforced plastic
Clown, I don't get why the officating is so bad in the WCHA, I think the problem is that the league office accepted poor officating for so long that the status quo is hard to change.
ReplyDeleteAdam, and Anderson are two of these guys that has to go. On the other hand Thuel (sp) is a decent offical.
