Tonight was the first time we got to see some of the new Fighting Sioux players and get reacquainted with a few of the older Sioux players in a exhibition game against Manitoba.
First thing that I noticed tonight that big Joe Finley and Chay Genoway were back paired together on defense. Another thing that stuck out was this years version of the Fighting Sioux seems to be smaller, quicker and more talented.
Tonight, the Sioux were lead by Matt Watkins a goal and two assists and Ryan Duncan who chipped in two goals.

I saw that "smaller" comment on Sioux Sports as well.
ReplyDeleteOn defense we lost Chorney and Bina. Not the biggest of guys. They're more than made up in size (but not yet skill) by their replacements.
On the forward lines the big losses are Oshie and Kaip. I think by moving up guys like Malone and Davidson we can make up the size thing.
We do have some quick young forwards. While no one will replace TJ Oshie, collectively they might make up the loss in skill.
I think defensively they are bigger but up front the forwards are smaller and quicker.
