Sioux get another Split

There is two ways you can look at this past weekend's series. One can look at this weekends results with negativity or one can look at this weekend's series and see the silver lining. SCSU while 7th in the standing of the WCHA has a lot of talent and can beat any team on any given day. UND after the split this weekend is sitting third in the league with the third most wins.

~UND has not swept an opponent this season.

~UND has not been swept by an opponent this season. By this time last season UND has been swept by three opponents.

~UND is still 9th in the Power Rankings after the weekend split.

  1. I'm a little dissappointed in Friday's finish, just like the previous Saturday, they led by 2-goals in the 3rd period, and lost both games. That is not good, not good at all.

I see the officials still love to hate UND. On the weekend SCSU 1-13on the power play, UND 1-5.

I hope UND can hold on to the 3 spot, since I don't see them catching up to CC or DU.

  2. In my observations, when a talented team plays flakey hockey, the main problem (9 out of 10 times) is poor leadership. And here, I mean the players, not the coach. Leadership problems are very difficult to fix because you can't just point your fingers at certain players and expect them to respond. True leadership tends to come naturally.

This type of flakey hockey is the worst symptom to bring into the playoffs, since one or two lapses can end the season. I hope like hell a few key players can step up and give this team some focus.

  3. Goon, always looking for the silver lining.

I was just happy to see the Huskies play well in the third period (not their strong suit so far this season).

It seems many WCHA teams may be struggling with leadership issues (aside from CC and DU) this year. I was happy with a split against an always dangerous UND team...
