Sioux7 Addresses Expansion of the CHA

Something to Think About

I was on goon's blog the other day and I was thinking about the whole
Conference alignment thing, with the CHA going down. I think some
Schools should move IN to the CHA.

Here are the teams I think should move to the CHA

Mankato State haven't been it the WCHA for that long, and
location)
Northern Michigan location, and moved to CCHA from WCHA in 1993)
Lake Superior State (location)

This would make 10 teams in CCHA, 9 in WCHA, and 8 in CHA, so it would
be a little more balanced in terms of numbers.

The CHA would then be a better conference. For instance, nobody likes
to play Mankato, since they tend to surprise many times by splitting
series or taking 3-of-4 points when you least expect it. Northern
Michigan has a good history of winning in the NCAA tourney, the won it
all back in 1991. Same for Lake Superior State, they too have gone all
the way, twice (correct me if I'm wrong). As for the existing schools,
Bemidji has the most titles at any level for hockey, enough said.

Note* These are not the Goon's suggestions, but from a guest writer.
All remarks should be directed at Sioux7

  1. Lets Go Mav's you know me I would never suggest a WCHA without the Mavericks in it.

I am a big fan of the rival. I just like to have differing opinions on my blog. I am also a big BSU fans and I want to see UNO and BSU in the league as well. I am suggesting this happen. BSU has applied for the WCHA and with them getting a new arena it might be possible.

  2. Goonster- I know, you would cry if the Mavs left the WCHA. I'm with ya on UNO and BSU joining though. What the heck..why not? I also think that each team should play every team twice (once home, once away) each season. That way we can cut non-conference games and have a good solid season without weeks off and stuff like that.

    Hmm..maybe I should run the WCHA?!? :)

Sorry, I just DON'T like your Sioux7 friend. Ick. He's always a jerk when he's on my blog too.

Also...for some reason my e-mail doesn't like you. 6 messages I've sent to you as a response were rejected after days. ANNOYING! So, don't think I'm ignoring you.

Oh, were you the Sioux fan that leaned over the glass to shake Jutts' hand after the game tonight?!? :)

  3. Kind of hard to shake hands with the coach when you sit in the upper deck. A tie is better than a loss. Lammy sucked tonight.

  4. From what I saw...the Mavs deserved to win more than the Sioux. Granted, you guys had a good 1st period but the Mavs played harder. Oh well...a tie is better than a loss. I think it's weird that almost all of the WCHA teams tied tonight.

I didn't think it was you shaking Jutt's hand, but had to check!!

  5. Should have, could have, would have. The Sioux let the Mav's back in the game when they could have put them away. The sioux acted like they want to give the game away.

I can't really complain though they have the nation's longest unbeaten streak. 9-1-2 I think or something like that.

  6. The best way to take care of the CHA is for Minnesota and Wisconsin to start their own league with Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. I say forget about the smaller schools they are not worth the time of day!

  7. There will be no big ten hockey conference. Even if there ever was UND would remain a powerhouse anyways.

  8. Goonster- seriously, are you the ONLY decent Sioux fan? You already know my feelings about your team and it's fans...and I tell ya, they just live up to my expectations.

It's just sad the comments they leave on my blog. I get fans from all over the WCHA on my blog on the week that the Mavs play their team and the Sioux fans are the only ones that are just asses.

  9. I'm open to the idea of the CHA still existing. It's no good for college hockey when conferences start dissapearing, but I don't think that it would serve to have teams fleeing other conferences either. And I second the fact that we will never see a Big Ten hockey conference. No way.

But I wish we could turn a couple more teams over into D-I teams. I'm sick of the imploding state of NCAA hockey right now.

  10. Kyle, Your right on, there will be no BTHC, its a pipe dream that Gopher fans like to throw out there from time to time.

I am for re-aligning the conference to even things out. I don't want to lose the 16 bids. I kind of like the 16-17 play in that someone mentioned.

I think as you see people get very passionate about their leagues, and I don't know what the NCAA is going to do about hockey. I would like to see more match up out side of the conferences. I don't think UND has played NMU since they left the WCHA and that used to be a good match up.
