Lets Go Mav's Web Page
I found this blog tonight, apparently this person doesn't like UND or its fans. It happens. I suppose this person is really not going to like our team after we took two games from their team this past weekend, from the sounds of the radio broadcast it also appears that the Sioux hockey team had a large showing of fans.
If anything I think most Sioux fans respect MSU-M and the hard nosed hockey their teams plays, I know I have learn to respect the battles they give our team each season. I belevery game agaisnt them is a battle. I believe the reason for the big battles between the two teams is when Mankato was entering the WCHA former Fighting Sioux Head Coach Dean Blais made sure the Mavericks were on the schedule, I also believe of all the WCHA teams the Fighting Sioux have played MSU-M the most. Maybe there is a history of bad blood between the teams fans, who knows. In my opinion life is too short to be unhappy.
I responded to your friends' comments on my blog. May be worth your time to read....
ReplyDeleteAlso, I don't think there's bad blood between the teams as much as just a large number of your fans that come to our arena and are over the top rude. Seriously, they're WAY worse than the Duluth, SCSU, WI, or Gopher fans. My point being is, show some respect and have some fun. We know we're not the best but it doesn't mean that people have to be rude.
Mr. Goon, thanks for sending your "fans that have respect for MSU,M" to my blog. Dang! My poor little blog is going to explode from all the comments. Sadly, their comments are proving my point...but I will hold out that there are some good UND fans though.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I'll see that if I make it to the Ralph this year. Probably not though, because I think I'm going to trump the Ralph for the Kohl center...but there's always next year.
Like I said, I'm holding out hope that there are some good UND fans. I don't know if the really bad ones just happen to get seats by us or what...but they're bad. I think it's cool that they make the road trip to see their team, as it shows real team support...which we lack. I, myself, like to go to the other arenas to see what it's like and to support the team. SO, I think that part of it is good...just not the way some act. It's not the chanting and stuff as much as them saying we don't belong in the WCHA and stuff like that. Come on, we're working hard and deserve to be there just as much as the other teams. That's my point really.
ReplyDeletePlus, as I've pointed out...we're pretty fun people down here and if the UND fans would just stop for a minute and chat with a few of us or something...they would realize that.
Well, I'm glad that some UND fans in the blog world are saying different things about the Mavs. Honestly, your blog is the only one I read or have seen, as it was linked from Runninwiththedogs.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be opposed to UNO and BSU both joining the WCHA. What can it hurt? I'm not sure if alot of other WCHA teams play them or not...but we play them both each year...so if we're playing them (or other non-conference teams) anyways...why not let them join? Again, I don't know all the politics behind it all though. I mean, I was still in college when we went WCHA and only went to 3 games total as an undergrad...I guess I didn't feel the need to go when they were FREE and had to start going once I graduated and had to pay:) Good thinking there.
I'll ease up on your fans some, as I noted in my last post...they weren't as bad this year. They were drunk and rowdy, but that's ok...they weren't as crude with the comments about us being a "waste of time" and stuff like that. That's where I get fired up about the respect issue. I think overall I'm defensive because these guys are working their butts off for a crap coach (yeah, I've gotten razzed for that...hating our own coach...but I'm a realist)..and I think they don't deserve to be written off.
