Max Domi's hit on Artur Gavrus.
Here is the hit that everyone was talking about in the OHL this past weekend. London Knights forward Max Domi looks to have gotten away with a head shot on Owen Sound's Artur Gavrus. There was no penalty on the play. Max Domi is the son of former NHL tough guy Tie Domi.

Another day another college recruit to the OHL
It has been a bad summer for college hockey as another player defected to the OHL/CHL. Jarred Tinordi has decided he is not going to play college hockey for Notre Dame and is going to go to the London Knights of the OHL instead.
TSN.CA ---- ontreal Canadiens first-round pick Jarred Tinordi is taking the more common route to the National Hockey League.
The London Free Press reports that the 18-year-old defenceman has chosen to play with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League next season, instead of joining Notre Dame.
With the move to the OHL, Tinordi will play a longer schedule and can attend the Canadiens' training camps. College players are not allowed to go to camps until they have left school and signed with their NHL team.
Tinordi, the son of former NHL blueliner Mark Tinordi, was taken 22nd overall by the Canadiens in June. The 18-year old was the captain of the U-18 U.S. National Development team last season.

Michael Liambas suspended for the year.
The wheels of justice have hit Michael Liambas hard as he has been suspended for the rest of the season for his hit on Ben Fanelli. I have to say that I applaud the ruling and other leagues should take notice. It also shows that you have to show respect for your opponents.
Toronto, ON - The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of its review of an incident which occurred in the game played in Kitchener on Friday, October 30th, 2009 between the Kitchener Rangers and the visiting Erie Otters.
The incident in question involved player Michael Liambas of the Erie Otters who was assessed a match penalty for boarding as the result of his hit on Kitchener Rangers player Ben Fanelli who sustained an injury to the head on the play.
In making the announcement as the result of the review, Commissioner David Branch stated that…”players must understand they shall be held accountable for their actions. We must all work towards improving the level of respect players have towards opposing players and the game in general”.
“It is the position of the Ontario Hockey League that player Michael Liambas of the Erie Otters Hockey Club be suspended for the balance of the 2009-10 playing season including playoffs”. [ontariohockeyleague.com]

Michael Liambas it on Ben Fanelli
This hit was on the Sporting News hockey site and I thought I would share it with the readers. This is a vicious check and you have to wonder if the OHL's league office will suspend Liambas for additional games or not. I also wonder if some of these players aren't wearing their helmets correctly?
KITCHENER, Ont. -- A junior hockey player remains in critical condition with skull and facial fractures after a hard check into the glass during a game Friday night.
Kitchener Rangers defenseman Ben Fanelli fell to the ice after getting hit by Erie's Michael Liambas during a 4-0 victory in an Ontario Hockey League game.
Fanelli's helmet went flying during the collision, and a pool of blood from a cut on his face formed on the ice under his head. The 16-year-old player was conscious when he was airlifted to a Hamilton hospital.
Rangers CEO Steve Bienkowski said in a statement posted on the team's Web site Sunday that Fanelli was in critical but stable condition.
Liambas received a boarding penalty and was ejected from the game for delivering the hit.
