Will the Bruins Horton be suspended for squirting a fan?

This is the main reason you don't give away things to fans is because they can end up back on the ice at the end of the game, this was a horrible move by the Tampa Bay Lightning. If you didn't see the end of the game last night this was an ugly scene. At the end of the game between the Boston Bruins and the Tampa Bay Lightning, thousands of noise makers were being tossed on the ice by the jubilant Lightning fans, by the video you can see that Bruins forward David Krejci was pelted numerous times with the noise makers while leaving the ice, you can also see from the video that Krejci was obviously agitated by being struck by the noise makers. This is unacceptable in my opinion.

Apparently there was some other bad behavior and the buzz around the internet today (every major blog is talking about it) is that Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton sprayed a Tampa Bay fan and then threw a water bottle at him while leaving the bench on his way to the Bruins locker room after the game. Some think this is ill advised and unacceptable act by Horton is worthy of a one game suspension, it might be,  because the coach of the New York Rangers John Tortorella was suspended for spraying a fan. We'll see how the NHL reacts in this situation.

Again; why was Bruin's rookie Tyler Seguin not playing in the first two rounds?

Boston Bruins rookie Tyler Seguin missed the first 11 games of the Stanley Cup Playoffs because he was said to be a defensive liability, but made up for the absence tonight with two goals and two assists during the second period of Tuesday's 6-5 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Boston Bruins. The four points in the second period by Tyler Seguin tied a Boston Bruin’s/NHL playoff record for points in a period.

USA Today --- Seguin's four points in a period tied the NHL playoff record held by many players, including three other Bruins. Barry Pederson did it in 1982 against the Buffalo Sabres, followed by Peter McNab in 1982 against Buffalo and by Ken Linseman against the Montreal Canadiens in 1985.

In two games that Tyler Seguin has played in, Seguin has amassed (3g-3a-6pts) that's one more point than first line winger and the Boston Bruins regular season leading goal scorer Bruins tough guy Milan Lucic (2g-3a-5pts) again, why wasn't this kid playing in the first two rounds. The $64,000.00 question is who are the Bruins going to sit when Patrice Bergeron returns from his mild concussion? I would say that Daniel Paille, Shawn Thornton or Greg Campbell will be sitting for the Bruins all have basically been useless during the playoffs so far for the Boston Bruins.

Boston Bruins vs Tampa Bay Lightning: i find this series to be really interesting. Tampa Bay has the firepower to match any team with guys like Vincent Lacavailer and Martin St. Louis. the Boston Bruins have gotten good goaltending throughout the playoffs from Tim Thomas and Tampa Bay has as well with Dwayne Roloson. If Boston wants to win the series they will need to activate their defenseman into offensive zone and to take advantage of Chara's rocket shot from the point. the bruins need to break down Tampa Bay's 1-3-1 trap and to get their big guys like Milan Lucic and Michael Ryder in front of Roloson who is very good at stopping the first shot and doesn't give up a lot of rebounds. If Tampa Bay wants to win they will want to keep getting points from guys like dominic moore and teddy purcell to help out the big guns and for Roloson to shut down boston's top line of Lucic,Horton, and Krejci. I like the Bruins in 6 games because of the play of Tim Thomas in these playoffs, he has been amazing and i think the Bruins top line is going to have a big series.

San Jose Sharks vs Vancouver Canucks: in the western conference we have a battle of two teams that at times in the playoffs have been very inconsistent and have giving up big leads in previous series. I think we haven't seen the best of the Sedin Twins yet and expecting them to have a big series. the MVP of the playoffs so far has been Ryan Kesler, who seems like he is a man on a mission so far and is dominating every facet of the game. He is seen as one of the best two-way players in the NHL. The key for the Sharks to win this series is too shut down the Sedins and Kesler. The play of Dan Boyle of SJ in the playoffs has been amazing and he has made some key defensive plays as well as setting up a lot of offensive chances. Devin Setoguchi has also had a great playoff run so far and look for that to continue in this series. Anetti Niemi had a great series vs the Red Wings and that save he made vs Datsyuk in game 7 was just awesome. this series is going to come down to goaltending and i think Niemi has the advantage over Roberto Luongo in this series because Luongo has been very inconsistent throughout the playoffs and i think Niemi is coming into this series with a lot of confidence after taking down the red wings. i like the San Jose Sharks In 6 games because of the play of Niemi

Bruins not expecting Lucic to be disciplined.

According to the Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa, the Bruins haven't heard from the NHL about Milan Lucic being disciplined for his hit on Jaroslav Spacek. This is going to make the Habs and their fans howl... You will hear a bunch of garbage about the NHL being in bed with Boston because Colin Campbell's son plays for the Bruins.

As of 1:30 a.m., the Bruins had not heard from the league regarding any supplemental discipline for Milan Lucic. They are assuming Lucic will be available for Game 7.

Lucic was given a five-minute major and a game misconduct for his second-period boarding penalty on Jaroslav Spacek. After Patrice Bergeron was called for delay of game during the major, the Canadiens scored the game-winning goal during a five-on-three power play.

Mike Murphy, senior vice president of hockey operations, was not available for comment.

First some disclosure I am a Boston Bruins fans, I am in now way condoning what Lucic did tonight, it was a bad hit and would get Lucic a game suspension during the regular season I have not doubt about it… In this case I think the hands of the NHL Disciplinarian(s) are tied; if the NHL didn't suspend Mike Richards for his dangerous hit on Tim Connolly there is no reason to believe that Bruins forward Milan Lucic will be suspended by the NHL for his hit.

If Lucic is suspended by the NHL then I do believe the Boston Bruins would have a legitimate complaint as well. What do you think is going to happen to Lucic? To the person that suggested that this one hit puts Lucic on par with Pen's Hack Matt Cooke, that suggestion is so far off the mark it's silly. Lucic doesn't have a history of making hits like this, Cooke has made a living doing these kinds of things.

Jay Rosehill vs Milan Lucic, that was a good fight between two heavy weights, Lucic makes a statement that you can't just take gratuitous hacks at the Bruins players without having to answer the bell. Some pundits would say that you don't want your top goal scorer fighting because if Milan Lucic (30g-30a-60pts) breaks a hand he will be on the shelf for the Stanley Cup playoffs, but Lucic has been known for his epic fights in the past.

Lucic 'happy' he didn't warrant a suspension

For those that said the Meyer hit on Milan Lucic wasn’t high or dirty think again. The NHL disciplinarian Mike Murphy thought otherwise and decided not to suspend Milan Lucic for his punch on Freddy Meyer. The rematch in Atlanta on Thursday night should could (since no one attends Thrasher games) be a barn burner as the Bruins and Thrasher are starting to become a bit of a rivalry. SUNRISE, FL. – Milan Lucic called the Sunday disciplinary call with NHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Mike Murphy a “slap on the wrist” while talking about it following Monday’s morning skate at Bank Atlantic Center.

Lucic said he was ecstatic about avoiding a suspension.

The Bruins’ top left winger was slapped with a match penalty in the middle of the line brawl in the third period of win over the Thrashers, and some assumed he’d end up with a one-game suspension after the incident.

Instead, Murphy and the NHL took into account the dangerous nature of Meyer’s hit that precipitated the entire chain of events -- and Lucic’s contrition after the fact certainly didn’t hurt his cause.

“That’s basically what it was: a slap on the wrist,” said Lucic. “They made it clear it’s something that shouldn’t be a part of the game, and I feel the same way. Looking back on it it’s something I shouldn’t have done, but sometimes you do things that you don’t mean to do once you get your adrenaline going.

“I’m just happy it wasn’t a game suspension and I’ll take the fine. We were looking back at some previous sucker punches and mine was more of a straight jab. I didn’t cock my hand back or anything like that. You can look at the Scott Walker/Aaron Ward incident where he brought his hand fully back for a haymaker where mine was a jab.”

The big power forward admitted wrongdoing while talking about the punch thrown to Freddy Meyer’s head, and the middle finger he “accidentally” extended out at the Atlanta bench as he was escorted off the ice.

Lucic was fined a total of $3500 by the NHL for both the punch and the obscene hand gesture, and chalked it up to a matter of basically seeing red.

“I didn’t feel anything on kind of hit to my chest. That was straight to the head area,” said Lucic. “He’s a lot shorter than me and he did leave his feet.

“I took it right on the head and the chin, and that’s why we reacted as a group. It was great to see that all of the guys had my back. We all had each other’s back on the ice. It’s a great feeling to know the other guys have your back no matter what the situation.”

Freddy Meyer came in high with a hit on Lucic in the third period that the refs deemed an “elbowing” penalty, and the 22-year-old said Meyer’s hit was very reminiscent of a Bryan Berard hit during his rookie season that knocked Lucic out for five games with a concussion.

With his mouth bleeding and his anger stirred, Lucic went at Meyer after he was tackled by Andrew Ference – and eventually found him with a right-handed jab that decked the surprised Meyer after refs had begun regaining order in the scrum. Lucic said he’d be ready if the Thrashers come looking for revenge against him when the Bruins travel to Atlanta on Wednesday night.

Looch will not be suspended for pounding Freddy Meyer...

Boston Bruins got some good post Christmas news today as they found out that the Bruins tough guy Milan Lucic will not be suspended for punching former BU Terrier Freddy Meyer... Watching the video you will see that Lucic while being tied up by a linesman punched Freddy Meyer who was also tied up by a linesman. Lucic was given a match penalty for the punch to the side of Meyers head. In my opinion I believe it was the right call and no other discipline was warranted at this time…

WILMINGTON -- Bruins coach Claude Julien said general manager Peter Chiarelli told him after practice at Ristuccia Arena that forward Milan Lucic would not be suspended for his actions in Thursday's 4-1 Bruin victory over the Thrashers at TD Garden. Lucic received a game misconduct and a match penalty after a fight with Atlanta's Freddy Meyer (a BU grad). Lucic is expected to comment tomorrow.

Chiarelli then issued a statement: “The NHL has informed us that Milan will not be suspended as a result of the match penalty assessed to him during our game against the Thrashers last Thursday. He will be fined $2,500 for the punch thrown in the scrum and $1,000 for making an obscene gesture directed at the Thrashers bench. He will join the team on the flight to Florida and be available for Monday’s game against the Panthers.”

That makes the line juggling much easier for Julien, as the Bruins head to Florida to start a five-game road trip. "For me, all I need to know is he wasn't suspended,'' said Julien.
"It's great to see he's going to be in our lineup tomorrow night.''

Bruins line brawl... Lucic has hearing on Sunday

Wow what a game! Shawn Thornton and Eric Boulton started the game by dropping the gloves and fighting. I think this could turn into a pretty good rivalry.

This is my definition of a good old fashioned line brawl or Donny Brook and what a marvelous way to end a hockey game. I think that Milan Lucic reacted in the right manner the Trasher's Freddy Meyer hit Milan Lucic up high with a questionable hit to the head and kudos to the Boston Bruins for sticking up for their teammate. The league will review this play and possibly give Lucic a couple game suspension, in this situation I think this dirty hit had to be answered for so I think the consequences of the reaction to the hit are worth it…

It's nice to know if someone cheap shots one of the Boston Bruins that a teammate is going to have their back. Meyer will think twice about hitting Lucic or another Bruins like that again.

Boston Globe --- Last night in the third period, Andrew Ference was a step behind Milan Lucic when the left wing got popped under the chin by Freddy Meyer. Naturally, with one of the best views in TD Garden of the play, Ference’s first reaction was to shed his gloves, grab Meyer, and let the Atlanta defenseman know such hits would not be tolerated.

“It was a high hit. Without a doubt,’’ said Ference. “Looch is going down the boards. I was following right behind him, so I had a really good view of it. The guy just put his stick and his hands right in Looch’s head. It’s a high hit. No question about it.’’

If you hit someone in the head like Meyer did you're going to get this type of a reaction. This is how the Boston Bruins needed to respond to the Freddy Meyer hit. Edit: Milan Lucic will have a disciplinary hearing with the NHL on Boxing Day (Sunday) to see if he will receive any punishment for his beat down on Meyer.

One thing that did concern me from this scrum was Marc Savard getting into a fight, that’s one thing the Boston Bruins do not need, one of their top forwards who’s had concussion problems squaring off in a fight. In my opinion it was an ill advised move on Savard’s part. Thank God he wasn’t hurt…
