(Video) Dion Phaneuf and Kyle Brodziak Fight
Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Dion Phaneuf and Minnesota Wild forward Kyle Brodziak drop the mitts. I would say that this was a good fight. I am actually surprised that Phaneuf fought.

(Video) Mike Santorelli no goal, Kyle Brodziak goal
First, at the 12:15 mark of the second period, Maple Leafs forward Mike Santorelli has a goal waved off for goalie interference.
Then two minutes later Minnesota Wild forward Kyle Brodziak scores the go-ahead goal to make the score 1-0. What a series of events. I believe the refs made the right call on Santorelli's no goal.

Erik Johnson saves an empty net goal (Video)
Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson saves the game clinching empty net goal. I want to know why this wasn’t a penalty? Delay of game, I would say. Maybe not.

Minnesota Wild: Matt Cooke scores his first goal as a Wild
I am actually surprised that Matt Cookes' shot off of the foot counted as a goal.
At 1:04 of the first period in the Kings/Wild game, video review confirmed the referee's call on the ice that Kyle Brodziak's shot deflected off Matt Cooke's skate and into the net in a legal fashion. The determining factor was that the speed of the puck propelled it into the net and that Cooke's skate only redirected it. According to Rule 49.2 "A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player's skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal." Good goal Minnesota.

Kyle Brodziak's Hit On Anze Kopitar
First off, the NHL officials for the most part do a pretty good job officiating games. That being said, I think the Wild forward Kyle Brodziak got a raw deal during last night's game. This time I believe the on ice official handed out an excessive and an incorrect penalty.
If you go back and watch the embedded video you will see that Brodziak didn't drive Anze Kopitar head first into the boards, he also didn't hit Kopitar from behind in the numbers. In my opinion this was a shoulder to shoulder hit. Frankly, I was surprised by the call. What do you think?
Apparently, the Minnesota Wild were less than impressed with Kopitar's laying on the ice like he had been shot. I also think it was an amazing recovery as well and Kopitar who laid on the ice for that long shouldn’t be able to just come back and play on the ensuring power play. I would have to say, in my opinion I think that Kopitar was embellishing an injury and embarrassed the NHL officials.

Sooooo, [Kyle] Brodziak, one of the Wild's most important forwards, is booted for more than half the game AND L.A. got a five-minute major (actually 3:38 after a 1:22 4-on-4 ended) out of it. AND, Kopitar conveniently heals for the major.
Brodziak hopes the league understands it was a puck battle in the corner (I'd be shocked if it doesn't) and let's him off with time served.
"It's you're lying on the ice for five minutes like that and play the next shift, you're obviously not that hurt," Brodziak said, sarcastically.
Everyone on the Wild bench knew it was a bad call, and Koivu, the Wild's captain, stood up. [Russo's Rants]

Pierre-Marc Bouchard
The Wild stopped a two game losing streak with this highlight goal from Wild forward Pierre-Marc Bouchard. For the Wild forward Cal Clutterbuck is starting to get it going offensively and added another shorthanded goal tonight, if anyone is keeping track, that means that two out of last three goals that Clutterbuck has scored have been shorthanded goals. Cal Clutterbuck also has five points in his last five games.
