Did the Kings get screwed?
Wow! Looks like a blown call that went in the San Jose Sharks favor. I am not a fan of either team, but I want to see the games called correctly. It appears that Dustin Penner had scored a goal.

L.A. Kings let fan tweet for them for a period. Not a really good call.
We apologize for the tweets that came from a guest of our organization. They were inappropriate and do not reflect the LA Kings.

The L.A. Kings let a fan tweet for a period for them during tonight's game, I bet they don't do that again anytime soon. Check it out the ones that weren't deleted by the Kings. There was a tasteless tweet that made a joke about being raped that has since been deleted you can see it at the link provided.
just for the record, the Kings have been out shot by the Sharks in every game of this series. Badly. Find a way to win. - @thekevinryder

(Video) Jonathan Quick turns over the puck, and game to the Blues in O.T.
I do think that Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick would like to have that play back, not a good play, at the wrong time of the game. So, tomorrow's newspapers will read, at the 13:26 mark of overtime, Blues forward Alexander Steen scores the game winning goal off of a untimely turnover by Los Angeles Kings all-world goalie Jonathan Quick. Blues lead the series 1-0.

Jonathan Quick's Awesome Victory Speech
s/t to Chuck Schwartz for having this gem on his twitter feed. I am not sure that Jonathan Quick will be getting any requests for him to do any public speaking engagements anytime soon but I can understand getting caught up in the moment. Again, congrats to the Kings for winning the Stanley Cup Championship.

Stanley Cup Playoffs Tribute 2012
While my favorite team didn't win the Stanley Cup this season, the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs was an exciting championship. The Los Angeles Kings steam rolled the opposition and were a miserable team to play against. The New Jersey Devils were persistent, disciplined and played physical hockey and they didn't let the opposition goad them into silly unnecessary penalties.
Going forward, lets hope there isn't a work stoppage and that they NHL season can start on time, I am not very positive about this happening but I am not going to give up hope. I am not sure the sport can afford to have another season off - there are as many as six teams that might not survive is there is a lock out.

Parise finally scores after six game drought
The sound you heard was a sigh of relief from New Jersey Devils forward Zach Parise has he scored his first goal in six games for the New Jersey Devils.
That being said, it's not just Parise that has found the sledding to be tough, the New Jersey Devils top forward line of Zach Parise (1g-0a-1pts), Travis Zajac (0g-2a-2pts) and Ilya Kovalchuk (1g-0a-1pts) has been stymied by the Los Angeles Kings and the Devils top line has scored a grand total of two goals and two assist for four points between the three of them during the Stanley Cup Finals. Kovalchuck's goal was a empty net goal at the end of game four to keep the Devils hopes of extending the series alive.
Rich Chere, The Star-Ledger --- Devils captain Zach Parise ended his goal-scoring drought in the Stanley Cup finals when he scored his first goal against the Kings and first in six games going back to the Eastern Conference finals. If the New Jersey Devils are going to extend the series and send it back to Newark, New Jersey for a game seven the Devils top line is going to have to become a factor on the score sheet. The Devils top line is going to have to make some space and break through the Kings defense and get behind the Kings defenders.
But he got help from Kings goalie Jonathan Quick, who shot the puck off the end boards to Parise at the right post. Parise beat Drew Doughty to the puck and scored inside the post.
“I made a not-so-great pass across the ice. I wasn't looking,” Parise explained. “I just saw Quick go out of the net. Just went on the normal forecheck route that I've gone on a thousand times this year. He just happened to misplay it and put it on my stick. You got to get lucky sometimes.”
The record favors the Devils as they have a 10-1 record in games 4, 5, 6 and 7. They also have future Hall of Fame goalie in Martin Brodeur who has won three Stanley Cups (1995, 2000, 2003) and seems to be getting better as the series goes along and you have to think that Marty is saving the best for the last series of the season.

Anze Kopitar's game winning goal
Here is the game winning goal in over time by the Los Angeles Kings forward Anze Kopitar. Kopitar shows his speed as he gets behind the New Jersey Devils defense - it was off to the races - not much the goalie New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur could have done there. That was the ninth win on the road for the Los Angeles Kings during the Stanley Cup playoffs - the Kings have yet to lose in nine games that they have played on the road during the playoffs.
Parise's and the Devils tough night
Here is the New Jersey Devils beat writer’s perspective on Zach Parise’s game one of the Stanley Cup Finals – Parise like the rest of the Devils looked like they were a little flat and maybe they were holding their sticks a little tight as well.
Mike Vorkunov, The Star-Ledger --- There was Zach Parise sprawling around the Kings net, desperate for any chance to finally make his mark on the opening game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
The Devils’ captain had been quiet to that point, outplayed by Dustin Brown – his counterpart. Brown hadn’t scored but at least he threw his body around, setting the tone for a rough and rumbling Game 1. All Parise had done to that point was two shots on goal, one of which had accidentally slid off of his stick and to the goal.
But there he was, his opportunity waiting, as the puck stayed in front of Jonathan Quick. And all Parise could muster was to stick his glove out, from the outside of the net, and knock the puck in over the goal line. For a moment the Prudential Center erupted.
One thing that was evident last night was that the Devils didn’t bury their offensive opportunities when they had a chance. Devils forward David Clarkson had two grade “A” scoring opportunities early in the game from the slot, only to shoot the puck over the Kings net.
Game one in the books - Kings up 1-0
Game one of the Stanley Cup Final between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils is in the book, the Kings won game one by a score of 2-1 on an overtime goal from forward Anze Kopitar at the 08:13 mark of overtime.Game two is on Saturday June 5th at 07:00 PM on NBC.
None of the former Fighting Sioux hockey players Travis Zajac, Zach Parise or Matt Greene showed up in the box score in last night's game.

Dustin Brown hit on Michal Rozsival
I think this is the next hit that will probably get a look from the NHL Department of Player Safety. This hit has also generated a lot of discussion on twitter at the end of the game.
I also expect, L.A. Kings forward Dustin Brown will get a call from the Senior Vice President of Player Safety Brendan Shanahan. Whether that hit deserves a suspension is another thing.
I do believe that the NHL has to review this hit, even though there was no penalty called on the play. I think that Michal Rozsival who had been diving and flailing around on the ice minutes before when he was tapped by a Kings players stick, probably led to there being no call on the play. If you cry wolf enough times who is going to believe you when you really get hurt, right?
If you look at second angle of the hit, it looks worse than the first clip that you saw at game speed. I also think that Jess Myers has a point with his tweet below.
Just for the record I would not want to be in Brendan Shanahan's shoes, I don't think it's an admirable position, not after this post season.
One person pinged me this to me on twitter - he doubts that Shanahan has the stones to suspend the Kings Captain for game 1. I guess we will find out - does Shanahan have the stones - he has proven already that he has the balls to suspended two superstars players in Claude Giroux and Nicklas Backstrom during the earlier rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. These actions leads me to believe that he might have the stones to do so. I wouldn't want to be in Brown's shoes right now.
Either way I really don't care, do you think that this hit deserves a suspension, fine or nothing at all. Personally, I just hope the Devils and Rangers series can fill the void until next Wednesday when the Stanley Cup Finals start.
Former Phoenix Coyotes tough guy seems to think that Dustin Brown will be suspended for his hit on Michal Rozsival and this is what he tweeted tonight.

Shane Doan's second goal
Phoenix Coyotes forward Shane Doan scored two big goals to help the Coyotes beat the Los Angeles Kings by a score of 2-0 to extend the Western Conference Finals series between the Phoenix Coyotes and the Los Angeles Kings. With the victory last night by the Coyotes in Los Angeles, game five is tomorrow night at 8:00 PM Central in Glendale, Arizona, at Jobing.com Arena.

Derek Morris goal from center ice
In tonight's Western Conference Final game between the Phoenix Coyotes and Los Angeles Kings game, Coyotes defenseman Derek Morris scored an improvable goal on Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick from center ice. Quick has been almost unbeatable through two rounds in the playoffs. This just proves that there is nothing bad about a shot on goal.

Oshie lights up Penner
We could run through a plethora of cliches but there is an old saying, get off the track if you don't want to get run over by the train. Former Fighting Sioux forward T.J. Oshie absolutely runs over L.A. Kings forward Dustin Penner with a legal green light hit. There is no reason for the Kings forward Mike Richards to jump Oshie because this is is a text book clean hit, there is nothing dirty about this hit.

Jarret Stoll's series winning goal
This was the goal that sent the Vancouver Canucks to the golf course and sent the L.A. Kings to the second round of the NHL playoffs to play the St Louis Blue. Its only fitting that on the game winning goal by Kings forward Jarrett Stoll that there is a Vancouver Canuck defenseman Dan Hamhuis flopping around on the ice as the game winning goal was being scored.

Video of the Dustin Brown hit on Henrik Sedin
In my opinion this hit by L.A. Kings forward Dustin Brown on Vancouver Canucks forward Henrik Sedin is a clean shoulder to shoulder hit, maybe a second late, you will notice that CBC announcer Jim Huson and Craig Simpson didn't like the play and much to their chagrin, the refs didn't call a penalty on the play. The game immediately got chippy after this play.
There is an old saying in football, it's better to be the hammer than the nail. Just for the record, Sedin did go down the tunnel but he did return.

Max Lapierre does his best Greg Louganis impersonation
s/t bearcat2002... Wow!!! Some of these guys should try their hand at drama school. This dive was a thing of beauty, check out Max Lapierre's dive after Drew Doughty's love tap, and they wonder why they never get a call from the referees. You don't have to look far to figure it out.

Was this goalie interference? Burrow's goal
"They're back!" The most unlikable hockey team in the NHL is up to their antics already. This is the goalie by Canucks punk Alex Burrows, also watch Ryan Kesler throwing his head back and your waiting for him to start flailing about, like he had been shot.
If L.A. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick's stick made contact with Ryan Kesler, it was because Kesler made contact with Quick who was in the blue paint and the goalie was trying to make a save and or trying to find the puck. To me this appears to be a text book goalie interference and the goal should have been waived off. What do you think?
