Toews scores while falling forward...
Wow! Check out this beautiful goal by former Fighting Sioux and Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews, that was a clutch goal. It’s hard to believe that Toews only scored one goal in a seven game series. Unfortunately, the Blackhawks season ended in overtime with a goal from Vancouver Canucks pest Alexandre Burrows.

Ex-Eagle Ben Smith forces game 7 for the Blackhawks...
There was a story line that I didn't think about, two Boston College Eagles played a big hand in tonight's game between the Blackhawks and the Canucks. First Cory Schneider played hockey with Ben Smith at Boston College and now were facing each other in the Stanley Cup playoffs. Obviously, Cory Schneider was the Vancouver Canucks goalie, albeit before he left the game because of an injury that he suffered on the penalty shot goal by Blackhawks forward Michael Frolik.
In the overtime Blackhawks forward Ben Smith was able to get the upper hand on his former teammate by ending the game with his goal at the 15:30 mark of overtime, forcing a game seven. The final twist is; Apparently the Canucks have two goalies that are both banged up, Roberto Luongo was hurt in game four and Schneider was hurt in tonight's game.

Former Badger Adam Burish calls Chris Pronger an idiot on national TV.
Ah, you've got to love this guy. Former Badger and Blackhawk Adam Burish is known for speaking his mind he called a few of the Canucks a bunch of clowns. Personally I think Adam Burish is character guy and the league needs more players like him. Flyers blogger Frank Seravalli wasn't thrilled with the straight talk by Burish.
“I think Chris Pronger’s the biggest idiot in the league,” Burish said. “I can’t stand him one bit. I hope I never have to see him again. If I see him out there, I might punch him.”Just for the record Adam Burish is the Blackhawks enforcer and or a tough guy and might be known more for his fists than his goal scoring prowess but he can back it up on the ice and did get into 15 fights during the 2007-2008 season.
Did Burish see the poorly done Chicago Tribune poster that depicted Pronger in a skirt, calling him ‘Chrissy Pronger’?
“No, but that’s perfect,” Burish said. “He should have worn that out here [on the ice]. He was terrible.”
Classy winner, right?
Those are some big words for a forward who has never posted more than nine points in an NHL season or positively contributed to a winning team. Pronger’s resume includes three Stanley Cup Finals with three different teams, a Hart Trophy, a Norris Trophy and a Stanley Cup ring.
Our advice to Burish when these two teams meet next season: keep your head up. That is, if he’s playing. [Philly.com]

Is Marian Hossa a curse?
I was thinking about this yesterday after the Blackhawks had won their game against the San Jose Sharks and you have to wonder if Hossa's fellow Blackhawk teammates are looking at him and going no, not that guy again.
CHICAGO — Marian Hossa is either blessed, or cursed.
We’ll find out soon enough when the Chicago winger makes his third straight trip to the Stanley Cup final with his third different team.
Having lost in Game 7 with Detroit last year and Pittsburgh the year before that, Hossa is hoping (actually he’s long past the point of hoping and has moved on to agonizing) that this time he will finally close the deal.
“It’s a great feeling coming to the finals again, definitely,” said the 31-year-old ex-Ottawa Senator. “This time I want to finish in a much more positive way than the last two years. That’s my goal. It’s a huge accomplishment (winning the West), but we don’t want to stop here.”
It will help Chicago’s chances greatly if Hossa actually scores a goal or two in the final, a fact that’s not lost on a sniper searching far and wide for his trigger finger.
“I am frustrated, trust me,” said Hossa, who has two goals in 16 playoff games so far.
History will be made; Dustin Byfuglien and don't touch the trophy
I think the emergence of Dustin Byfuglien is one of the feel good stories of this years Stanley Cup Playoffs. Nice to see the Roseau that came from a modest upbringing kid doing well and succeeding at a very high level.
Superstitions
What is the deal with NHL and college hockey players not wanting to touch the trophy after they win a conference title in their respective leagues? This season the DU Pioneers looked like they were unhappy or at least unenthused to receive the MacNaughton Cup and yesterday former Sioux hockey player Jonathan Toews wanted nothing to do with the Clarence Campbell trophy. I think the Blackhawks are that good they don’t need to worry about touching a trophy.
People say/write the silliest things
This is my candidate for moron of the week.
Can you imagine how good UND would have been if we could have got him to play at UND? Wow he is great! When Toews came to UND he was 17 years old and I believe he made at a young age of 18. Doesn't happen very often and Toews is a special player. The kid is 22 years old, he is the captain of the Chicago Blackhawks. Toews has won (2X) WJC titles with team Canada, a world championship and a Olympic gold as well.
I hope he gets hit super hard by pronger in the finals!!!!

Former Badger Adam Burish calls Canucks clowns.
Here is the Adam Burish interview that has everyone talking, I have to admit that I agree with the former Badger Adam Burish, the Canucks are a bunch of clowns and some might even call them Hacks. I can't wait for game four.
VANCOUVER -- Chicago Blackhawks winger Adam Burish accused Vancouver Canucks forward Alex Burrows and defenseman Shane O'Brien of being "clowns" for roughing up Blackhawks skill players during their Western Conference semifinals.
"The thing that upsets me about O'Brien and Burrows is they go and target [Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews]," Burish said Friday morning. "The clown Burrows goes after [Brian] Campbell in the middle of the ice.
"Give me a break. If you want to target someone, come find me or [Ben Eager]. You guys want to pretend you're so tough, and yet you go and try to pick a fight with those guys. If you want to hit them and play hard, fine. But those clowns are pushing them after the whistle and punching them."
Burish implied O'Brien acts tough only when Burish and Eager -- the Blackhawks' enforcers -- aren't on the ice.
"We call O'Brien a 'spot picker,' " Burish said. "He picks his spots pretty nice. He knows who's on the ice and when he can be a tough guy and when he kind of has to shut up."
Burrows' hit on Campbell drew an unsportsmanlike penalty midway through the second period of Game 3 on Wednesday, shortly after the Canucks grabbed some momentum and narrowed the Blackhawks' lead to 2-1. Dustin Byfuglien scored his second goal of the game on the ensuing power play to make it 3-1. The Hawks won 5-2 to take a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 is Friday night in Vancouver.
"You have to be careful at this time of the year," Burish said. "I go into a game and I have a plan. You know who you want to go after, and who you want to target.

Toews wants revenge against Mitchell, but only on the score board
This is what former Fighting Sioux hockey player Jonathan Toews has to say about the hit that knocked him out for a few games with a concussion last fall.
CHICAGO — Turnabout is not fair play in Jonathan Toews’ eyes.
The Chicago Blackhawks captain admits he wanted revenge against Willie Mitchell and the Vancouver Canucks after Mitchell’s open-ice check left Toews concussed — but only on the scoreboard.
He’d never wish ill will on the defenceman, who is now struggling through his own post-concussion battles.
Mitchell stepped out of the penalty box during an October contest and rocked Toews, who missed six games as a result.
A blind-side hit into the end boards from Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin has had Mitchell out of action since mid-January.
“You want to get revenge when you play against Vancouver and the player who put you in that situation, but I’ve got to say there’s definitely no hard feelings,” Toews said Thursday

Blackhawks don't back down vs. Blues
Here is what Toews had to say about his fight with Backes last night.
''I still don't think I won,'' Toews said with a smile of his second NHL fight. ''I'm not going to argue that, but I did a little better than the first one [against the Phoenix Coyotes' Martin Hanzal on Nov. 18, 2008].
