Denver Post finally responds to Patrick Bordeleau's dirty leg check on Jared Spurgeon

Nice to see that the Denver Post "finally" decided to pick up this story. Our buddy Adrian Dater from the Denver Post is Johnny on the spot for this story.
But, yeah, it looks a lot like the Cooke hit on Barrie, and let’s not be naive here: we all knew the Avs would maybe try something in retaliation for losing one of their best players to a dirty hit. As I said before and I’ll keep saying: you’re looking in the wrong place if you’re looking to the NHL for fairness and civility.
Adrian Dater explains his reasons for calling Matt Cooke a Gutless Puke.
When I referred to Matt Cooke as a “gutless puke” earlier, I was doing so in reference to an old line Cam Neely used about Claude Lemieux once, and has since become a common hockey saying for anyone people don’t like. It wasn’t meant to be taken so literally.
Let's clear, I have called Minnesota Wild Matt Cooke worse than that. I just was kind of shocked to see a major newspaper in a major market use those kind of words to explain a National Hockey League player. First, the Avalanche employed their share of objectionable players as well.

Minot State Football: Former Football Player Charged with Attempted Murder

I hope they throw the book at this guy and he rots in jail for the next 20-years. I also must take issue with buffoonish, senseless comments like this from a clueless Bison Fan no doubt. These comments were posted on Sioux Sports. “Kinda extreme to charge that kid with attempted murder. It sure as heck was wrong to knock out the cop.....but it isn't attempted murder.” Unnamed Bison Fan Really! So you think it's extreme to charge a perpetrator with Attempted Murder because he was slamming Officer Schmidt's head into a post... Yeah, how dare they advocate protecting their law enforcement personal from Minot! Again, I really hope that the Ward Co District Attorney throws the book at this guy. It’s one thing to rig an election or drink underage, this is a felonious assault.
MINOT, N.D. (AP) — A former Minot State University football player charged with attempted murder and assault following a scuffle with police beat an already unconscious officer's head against a post, according to court documents.

Jesse Ili, 21, beat two officers who responded to a report of suspected drug use in a parked vehicle off campus in Minot on Friday. He has since been kicked off the Minot State team.

Police say in court documents that the 6-foot-tall, 220-pound Ili overpowered Officer Brandon Schmidt while Schmidt was trying to arrest him, and that Officer Erik Laudenschlager saw Ili slamming Schmidt's head into a post while Schmidt "appeared to be limp and unconscious," according to the Minot Daily News.

Ward County State's Attorney Rozanna Larson asked that bond be set at $250,000. Hagar set Ili's bond at $200,000. He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted of attempted murder.

"Anybody who attacks police officers, almost kills one, is a danger to society," Larson said.
Have we become that callous of a nation that we don’t care when a Police Officer is assaulted by a violent thug? Some football fans from some fan bases might excuse behavior like this, but this is anti-social behavior. So no! The punishment does fit the crime.

You have to love Adam Burish’s candor

This was golden, I know this is a day old but It’s worth the read if you haven’t seen it yet. Former Badger forward and current San Jose Shark Adam Burish responded to Vancouver Canucks defenseman Bieska’s charges that the Sharks were embellishing during their series against the Canucks. On its face, this charge is hilarious, if not preposterous, because the Canucks are known around the National Hockey League as being perpetual divers and have two of the biggest divers in the league. Check it out.
Kevin Kurz, CSNBayArea.com -- [Adam] Burish offered a suggestion to the Vancouver defenseman.

“I guess it if I was him, while he's up on his soap box trying to save the integrity of the game and doing all that stuff, I'd swing by player No. 14 (Alex Burrows) and player No. 17 (Ryan Kesler) – The Beast – and have a little talk with them about diving and the integrity. Then he can work his way over to our room.

“But, I'd start with those two guys in his room.”

Burish wasn't done.

“It was silly to call out the refs and worry about what we're doing. Please, keep worrying about us. But, in our room we're going to worry about our guys, what we've got to do, how we can be better and not worry about the integrity of the game and have props in interviews, and act like a lawyer with video evidence."
This is one of the reasons that no one likes the Vancouver Canucks outside of the Province of British Colombia. The point is also mute now, because the Canucks were eliminated by the Sharks last night.

Is this supposed to be funny Harrison Mooney?

So is this supposed to be funny? Is that really humorous to others? I am just wondering? I wonder if Harrison Moody would think it was funny if one of the Sedin Twins or Alex Burrows was on the receiving end of dirty elbow or hit from behind like Marchand was tonight?

In today’s game where concussions are prevalent as missing teeth, do we really want to make light of dirty hits like this? Puck Daddy used to be a good hockey blog before they hired this clown. [click to view]
It's a tough situation for Volchenkov. It's easy to elbow Marchand in the head, because a) he's so small and b) he really makes you want to. But it goes without saying that you're not allowed to do it, so while applaudable in some circles, it's suspendable in others.
Not funny dude. Having watched Matt Cooke end Marc Savard's career with a dirty elbow, I don't see anything funny about this dirty, bush-league hit what-so-ever.
