When I look at this hit, I see a suspension coming for Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba. First, the hit was high, the head looked like it was targeted.
Second, the hit in question was on a star player. Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane is a star player and the league doesn't take to kindly to its star players being hit like this. Lucky for Dumba, Kane when down the tunnel but came back. Suspension worthy?
UPDATE: No Suspension.

If Kane keeps his head up the collision never happens. Skol Wild!
ReplyDeleteExcept he's looking to play the puck in his skates. Regardless of a player's position, or the player's name for that matter, the head shouldn't be the first point of contact for any hit. If Dumba turns his body slightly left, it's a clean shoulder on shoulder hit. Stop being a goon and blaming Kane for the hit.
ReplyDeletethank you!
DeleteThe NHL has ruled already that Dumba won't be suspended.
DeleteIts a contact sport, Kane was watching the puck... Dumba hit him in a crouched position and did not go head hunting. Dumba should not be suspended. It it was a big reason for the Wild winning the game.
DeleteMatt dumba needs be suspended for the charging hit on patrick kane
ReplyDeleteHe lifted his elbow, wasn't clean. Yes, Kaner should not have had his head down but Dumba intended to hit him the way he did. Kane is lucky it wasn't worse, but Dumba should be suspended or fined
DeleteActually he kept his arm and elbow close to his body. This was a clean hit. Parise took way worse to the back of his head in front of Chicago's net. Hockey is a contact sport. No matter what your name is.

DeleteDon't skate with your head down, you learn that in squirts...

ReplyDeleteSince Kane's head was down for what seemed like eternity, the obvious NHL ruling was released before the end of the game which fell under Section 6 of Rule 48, regarding unavoidable contact on a full body check, not to mention Dumba never took more than one lead up stride and Matt also ppeared to angle under Kane to avoid his head...
ReplyDeleteVanessa: lead with his elbow? Come on you can do better than that. Kane ran right in to that hit. Dumba didn't lift his elbow and never left his skates...clean hit and the league has already ruled the same.
ReplyDeleteJust because Kane is a bigger name in the sport he shouldn't be treated with any special rules. Give a suspension to someone doing his job? Protect the blue line. Way to go Dumba. I just with the refs would have let him go with the gloves off.
