Bourne on Minnesota

I was reading Justin Bourne's blog and found this zinger that I thought was funny. Funny thing it's pretty accurate.
Minnesota Wild: The Minnesota Wild are having a draft party, as most teams do these days. So if you’re a Wild fan, swing on by Aperitif Restaurant & Bar in Woodbury and watch your team draft another overrated Minnesotan ahead of several demonstrably better players.

Ooo, daggers. The best thing I’ve read about the Wild in awhile came from the their beloved beat writer Michael Russo, who talked about the perpetual cycle of mediocrity the team is caught in. Great point, but as an Isles fan, that doesn’t sound so horrible.

BallHype: hype it up!

  2. Hey now...

The Wild are mediocre and will be for a while yet. But this is the first draft that matters now.

Gone are Risebrough's retards. I expect Fletcher and crew to draft some people with real talent.

Of course, they could like, go off the board and draft a stay at home defenseman like McIlrath and forget offense.

If I were the Wild, though, I'd draft offense for the first 4 rounds. 5th and 6th rounds you go for a goaltender and a defenseman in that order.

Oh, and taking a shot at a few European skaters with big offensive upsides in the 3rd and 4th rounds (shooting for a Datsyuk or Zetterberg type) might be worth a shot.

  4. The Wild really haven't been drafting many Minnesota players. In fact any Isle fan buffing out his chest should look at his own team. Oh, look at that dolt Garth Snow's latest state of Minnesota's picks from drafts past. Seriously do you follow hockey?

    LOL!

  5. I thought it was funny so I included it. You have to admit that it's pretty witty.
