Pick your head line; Sioux _____ the Gophers

Fill in the blank, last night the Sioux ____ the Gophers; A.) pummel B.) smoke C.) destroy D.) pound. E.) run over.

Yeah I have to admit that I am enjoying last night’s melt down at the Ralph Englestad Arena being replayed this morning in the Twin Cities media as their beloved Golden "Chokers" Gophers have laid yet another egg at the REA. Recently the Gophers have been God awful in the Ralph Englestad Arena, what was once referred to as Mariucci West by Gopher fans is now a house of horror for the Gophers and they have gone an unimpressive record of 1-5-1 their last seven games there. Again, am I enjoying myself, yeah me and 11,500 other Sioux fans that witnessed last night massacre at the REA. The 100 plus Gophers fans In attendance were heading for the exits about half way through the second period.

Last night was the perfect night, before Sioux fans could take their seat; Danny Kristo was scoring the game winning goal on Alex Kangas. The Sioux never looked back and the Sioux off to the races as they made the Gophers look like they were a bunch of road cones/pylons on I-94.

Check out some of these head lines from the morning papers

Pioneer Press; Gophers pummeled 6-0 by North Dakota in WCHA playoff opener

Goal Gophers; Melt Down at the Ralph

  1. Didn't see any of it, but the way it sounds by reading all the articles & box scores, it was one-sided. I was at the longest hockey game I've ever attended in person last night: semifinals of the MN boys state high school tournamnet, Minnetonka over Hill Murray in 5 overtimes. Evidently Mankato had quite a comeback as well on SCSU. Huskies were up 3-0 in the second and 4-2 in the third but Mankato rallied to tie it with 0.3 left on the clock and then win 20 seconds into OT. Niagara shocked Bemidji State in the CHA tournament too, that throws a curveball into the at-large field of 16!

  4. Next weekend when the Sioux roll into town I bet the local Twin Cities media isn't there nor will they make much effort to publish anything prior to Thursday. If the Gophers basketball team makes the NCAA look for them to recieve a boat load of press.

    Hello empty seats.
