Ovechkin hit on Brian Campbell
This is the hit that everyone is talking about in the NHL today, I was watching this game and it was kind of a buzzkill. I wonder if the league will suspend Ovechkin or not. Collin Campbell has proven in the past that there are different standards for different types of players.

Anyone else gets suspended.
ReplyDeleteOvechkin hits guys like this all game, every game. He is the Michael Jordan of the NHL, I would be surprised if he gets more than an fine or a 1 game suspension.
It wasn't a very hard hit, kind of just a shove, but guys in Campbell's position are so vulnerable, all it takes is a little push to get them of balance and they can go crashing at very bad angles into the wall. Also I think it was a little late, Campbell got rid of the puck and his back was to Ovechkin, no reason to even touch him there, if you do you are asking for trouble.
ReplyDeleteJust read on ESPN that Campbell has broken collar bones and ribs and may miss rest of season.
Ovechkin tried to break a guy's neck, but he got kicked out and we had to go the whole rest of the game without seeing his godly presence on the ice. As far as I'm concerned, for the good of the NHL and marketing the sport to the masses, that in itself was far too long. What were the refs thinking.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone see Cindy's episode from the Pens game yesterday? I thought it was quite cute, apparently there was another sniper in the building for that one.
Apparently Campbell is out for the rest of the year with a broken collar bone.
ReplyDeleteThat hit is one the most dangerous in hockey and needs to be completely eliminated. OV knew he screwed up immediately, that's why he fell over Campbell and gets up slowly. If he doesn't get three or more games (preferably more) the league might as well "get bent". In any case OV just cashed in his Blackhawk card for the SC final if they meet.
