The hit that started the fight was Erik Johnson's hit on former Golden Gopher teammateRyan Potulny. Nice elbow to the face. It's my opinion that Erik Johnson is one of the softest 6'4" 236 pound hockey players in the NHL. I am not sure we can call this anything but a hug feast. This was the third fight that Johnson has been in this season and all of them are about as bad as this one. I would suggest taking some lessons in the off season.
Not only was it an elbow but he left his feet pretty early too.
On a side note it is great to see Potulny having a solid year in the NHL. He is one of the Oilers better goal scorers (I know they are awful but he is 3rd in goals and eigth in points while having played about 10-15 less games than the guys ahead of him) and a mainstay on the PK. Good to see from a guy that is only one of the few North Dakota born players ever to make it to the NHL.

Despite his size EJ's never been a fighter. He got where he is by being a playmaker.
ReplyDeleteStill, Goon's right, he probably should work at being a bit more able to defend himself out there.
Potulny left the year before Johnson enrolled at Minnesota.
ReplyDeleteErik Johnson is the WORST BIGGEST BUST OF A #1 Overall pick!!! Ever!!! The Blues shit the bed in 2006 picking him over Toews.
ReplyDeleteEJ makes mistake after mistake in the 70+ games I've seen this season.
Thanks Green Hornet I made the correction and BrettB, I think that EJ is a lot of hype and Toews would look good with a blue not on his chest as well.
