Mac and Hepp (Suspension coming?)

If you watch the video you will see that the Huskies player Chris Hepp clearly came off of the SCSU player’s bench to engage Andrew MacWilliam. It will be interesting to see if Greg Shepherd has the stones to suspend Hepp. If this was the NHL Chris Hepp would be getting a lengthy ten game suspension for leaving the bench to engage in an altercation.
70.10 Fines and Suspensions – The first player or goalkeeper to leave the
players’ or penalty bench during an altercation or for the purpose of
starting an altercation from either or both teams shall be suspended
automatically without pay for the next ten (10) regular League and/or
Play-off games of his team.
The NCAA rule book isn't very specific in this regard but it appears that Hepp should have been given a game disqualificaton (page 79)for leaving the players bench.
f. A player may not leave the players’ bench or penalty bench at any time during an altercation. Substitutions made before the altercation shall be permitted provided the players substituting do not enter the altercation. For purposes of this rule, an altercation is considered to be concluded when the referee enters the referee’s crease or, in the absence of penalties, signals a faceoff location.
PENALTY—Disqualification.

  1. I doubt that the league that wants no fighting and absolutely no brawls will touch this.

  2. Then this very same discussion should've been discussed back when UND and Denver had that little shindig. Kyle Radke was in the locker room tunnels halfway into the locker room when the fracas started.

From there, he ended up on the ice and used that Vossberg fella as a punching bag. Radke only ended up with a DQ for the fight...

Nothing extra was added to his punishment. Nothing will probably done to these fellas.

  3. Gee, I've seen the video and it seems that there were about 10 guys scrapping with Finley and Gennoway.

I'm pretty sure that nobody with any kind of sense would object to their teammates bailing them out.

I'm sure someone with sense would also realize that not all of those ten Denver players belonged out on the ice.

  5. True, but none of those ten Denver players were using a unwilling UND player as a punching bag lol.

This isn't anything to demand suspensions for IMO.

  6. Vossberg didn't want to fight? He wasn't involved in taking Chay and Joe to the ice?

You get involved with a 10 on 2 fight and you deserve what you get.

I disagree with you about no suspension. If you don't crack down on Hepp you're telling everyone that it's ok to join in a fight off of the bench.

There's an automatic 10 game suspension for that in the NHL for a reason.

  7. Was he?

From what was said in the video Finley ran into a DU player by accident on his way to the UND but Mannino took offense.

It'd be pretty hard for all 10 players to get on Finley and Genoway. Besides that, Finley and Genoway held their own. Many of the DU players were either trying to separate people getting tangled or pairing up with Sioux players just so nothing extra happens.

I didn't even see Vossberg near either Finley and Genoway. When the camera was on them he was wrapped with Radke...

I'm not a Denver fan, but I'm just saying what I saw. So I guess I'll agree to disagree.

  8. By the time it was 4-0 in the second period, the game was pretty much over. However, the entertainment factor rose dramatically because it basically turned into a WWF wrestling match dictated by the Sioux instead of a hockey game. Could be just what the Huskies needed to prepare for their showdown at the Kohl Center next weekend, where they haven't won a game since 2001. Denver might as well claim the McNaughton Cup right now.

  11. Whistler is right on.

Nothing will come of this. Nothing.

If anything, Zajac will get the brunt. But hey! Here's something for you (just to tie into my post on Roe)...

Zajac legitimately does something illegal to Roe and ROE DOES NOT FALL DOWN TO THE ICE. Yet, during the game, if you blew by Roe too fast, he'd roll on the ice holding his head. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM....

That's your Garrett "Swan Dive" Roe.

It's too bad talent is sometimes wasted.

  12. Last time I checked, Roe has more points than any player on the entire Sioux squad and he's also an NHL draft pick, so he must be doing something right.

  13. Hmmm.. When did I ever say that Roe was a bad hockey talent?

I said he is a diver. Robbie Earl was also a great talent but he was a diver!

Imagine, WCHAdominates, if Earl and Roe decided not to dive any more, they'd stay on their skates more and, thus, not be wiped out of the play. It is concievable that, though they'd not sucker the WCHA idiots in stripes into calling a stupid penalty, they'd be effective in some sort of capacity in whatever zone they are in.

Hey, Robbie Earl's looked pretty good with the Wild all things considered. Interestingly enough, I don't see him diving much, do you?

Roe as he is right is a good hockey player with some VERY bad habits and not much of a sportsman like attitude. Fix it, and he'd be 1 of the best.
