BLOOMINGTON — Bloomington PrairieThunder forward Mike Liambas, who was suspended for the remainder of the season at the junior level in October for a hit that caused serious head injuries to an opposing player, has been suspended for the next five games by the International Hockey League for a Dec. 29 hit against a Muskegon player.
The suspension issued Tuesday stems from a hit that Liambas made on Lumberjacks defenseman Jason Lawmaster early in the game at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. The hit ruptured Lawmaster’s spleen, and he spent four days at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington after undergoing a splenectomy.
