As always I include the INCH Power Rankings for those looking for a good laugh on Monday Morning. What is humorous about this week's power ranking is that Cornell and Yale are ranked so high; yet Yale would barely be in the NCAA tourney and Cornell would be on the outside looking in if the NCAA tourney started today.
1. Miami
2. Denver
3. Cornell
4. Boston College
5. Colorado College
6. Yale
7. Wisconsin
8. North Dakota 5 The Fighting Sioux gave up more than two goals once in their nine games en route to a 7-1-1 start. They've allowed three or more goals six times in the nine games since and are 2-5-2 in that stretch.
9-6-3 (6-6-2 WCHA) LAST WEEK: T vs. Wisconsin, 3-3 ot; L vs. Wisconsin, 4-3. THIS WEEK: vs. USA Under-20 Team (Ex.)
9. Quinnipiac
10. Bemidji State
11. Michigan State
12. UMass Lowell
13. Massachusetts
14. Ferris State
15. Minnesota Duluth
16. Union
17. Alaska
18. New Hampshire
19. Maine
20. St. Cloud State
Dropped out: None
Bubble-licious: Colgate, Lake Superior State
INCH's biggest problem is that their editor is their ECAC "beat writer" and therefore thinks that conference is still one of the big four. Not saying some of their teams aren't good, but they are not that good. Other than their embelishments of the ECAC, I do not have much of a problem with the rest of their rankings.
ReplyDeleteMe too, that is why I have a beef with them to, it's their love of everything EZAC.
ReplyDeleteIt was tough to see BSU fall this weekend too, they played terrible and took some bad penalties and sometimes that is all it takes. I hope they bounce back versus Western Michigan in a couple weeks.
ReplyDeleteQuote INCH: "If Cornell faces Maine in the second game at the Florida College Classic, it will be the third in a stretch of four games against ranked teams (Union, CC, Maine, UNH)."
ReplyDeleteWho was the last unranked team the sioux played? Ohio State, 5 games ago.
Per the comment next to SCSU: 7 of the 9 series the Huskies have played thus far are against ranked teams. Good for the hardest schedule in the entire country. The good news: their schedule gets easier in the second half, but remember, the WCHA is the best conference in the country, there are no breaks, only slightly-weak spots.
ReplyDeleteMoreSiouxforYou, I think MC, OSU and MTU... Minnesota was ranked at the time they played the Gophers.
