Since we have been hearing from the Beaver haters all season, are we going to hear from the Quinnipiac haters this week? I mean, heaven forbid a team with one loss and couple "quality" wins (Cornell and UMASS will be considered quality whether we think they are or not, the media loves Cornell) be considered #4 in the nation. Good for the Bobcats. I know that WCHAdominates will be the first to point out that their loss was a pitiful smacking by Robert Morris but more than one team has been trounced by a lesser opponent in his precious WCHA this year too.
ReplyDeleteAnd BSU moved up one spot in the INCH and USCHO polls. I guess the loss to Ohio State was more than offset by the win over Miami.
ReplyDeleteGO BEAVERS!
It's very hard to work up that kind of vitriol for EVERY overrated team, Charles. Even for folks with anger issues like me.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that Dumbver isn't in the number one spot after losing one and tying one this weekend.
ReplyDeleteClearly a tie with Miami doesn't justify us leapfrogging them.
I'd put Dumbver #1 right now, then Miami and then us.
Whistler,
ReplyDeleteThe pools are really meaningless until you get down to the end in late Jan and Feb. They are fun to read though.
Charles,
I sat with the boys from the Hockey Show on Saturday night and we talked about QU, and the first thing one of them brought up was the fact that QU allowed RMU to score 8 goals on them. Again we will see how they do this season, championship are won in FEB, MAR and APR... UND was 6-5-1 last season at the half way mark and won the MacNaughten Cup.
Duluth Finished 7th in the League standings and won three games and made the NCAA tourney and went further than any other WCHA team.
All I have to say about is Cornell Yawn!!! UMASS is a decent team but Hockey East is way down this season.
What I meant was... UMD Beat C.C. at home and then won the final five from thursday. It's about playing well in the money months...
ReplyDeleteMillsy I saw that... I wonder if that is the highest a CHA team has been ranked by INCH?
ReplyDeleteI think Cornell is overrated too but the mass media would disagree, something to do with that east coast bias.
ReplyDeleteNo way a CHA has been ranked this high before.
Yeah I agree Charles.
ReplyDeleteHere I am Charles! I don't know what to think of the Beavers and their lofty ranking once again this week. They can beat the best team in the CCHA but lose to the 8th place team in the CCHA one night later. Kind of a mystery I guess. Throw out all their wins against the likes of Huntsville, Robert Morris, and Air Force. You have this record against Northern Michigan, Minnesota, Miami, and Ohio State: 4-2. I know nothing about Quinnipiac but I intend to look into this team further this week. Goon is right, the polls mean almost nothing, they only provide arguments and controversy here. The real numbers to keep track of are the pairwise rankings, and according to those, 5 teams from the WCHA would be in the field of 16 if it started today, with 1 more on the bubble.
ReplyDelete"The pools are really meaningless"
ReplyDeleteI disagree, the polls are only worthless when the Sioux aren't ranked #1.
