So now we are a bunch of rubes?

This is the kind of crap that I get tired of hearing/reading when the Golden Boys from Minneapolis come to town look at what the Gophers beat writer referred to one of the fans as a "rube". This is supposed to be journalism? Why not refer to the person as a fan?
A 60-some lady named Grace gave me and 40 others a tour of Ralph Engelstad Arena. Cheap entrainment for me, only $3. One rube actually said, "It's only three dollars."

Grace offered a little history of the Ralph. She said that in Dec. of 1998, Engelstad, a former UND alum who made millions in real estate and a Las Vegas casino, the Imperial Palace, pledged $100 million for a new arena. It took 21 months to build and he watched the progress.

  1. Don't take it personally, rube is how the media refers to ALL fans around the Twin Cities, I thought you listened to KFAN from time to time?

  2. If it was PA I wouldn't be upset about it, but its coming from a beat writer. I take issue with it, it's something I would expect from Mike Chambers as well.

    Did you see this BS?

I can't believe that. If you can't take it when your team loses stay home.

  4. Yeah I saw that and it's unfortunate, no sporting event should cause someone to assault another person. There has to be more to it, I am sure we will find out soon.

  5. I agree with Charles. Living in the twin cities area I hear the word used to mean sort of 'excites, serious fan' more often that not. KFAN's Barrero uses it ad nauseam in a playful way, occasionally with more of an edge to it, on his show.

  6. I meant 'excite' not 'excites' in my last entry. I am referring to 'rube'...

  7. If it was PA or Dan B I wouldn't take exception to this but this guy is a clown, he is thumbing his nose at Grand Forks, ND.

Read the tone in the article, this was the same clown that said Brian Schack was an enforcer when he jumped Boe. Roman also didn't see the comparison between Bertuzzi and the Shack incident.

Oh wait, that's a different Roman. My mistake

  9. I am not condoning what Shack did, but I think it is not in the Bertuzzi category either.
