Dany Heatley wants out of Ottawa: Is there a fit here?According to ESPN's E. J. Hradek: "Ottawa GM Bryan Murray, who, according to those sources, has been notified of Heatley's desire for a change of scenery, is mulling his options. Murray could retool the Senators' roster by moving Heatley. Of course, any trading partner would have to have the budget room necessary to accommodate the remaining five years of Heatley's deal, which counts for $7.5 million against the cap. Heatley is thought to be interested in a move to the Western Conference."
If he can be lured out of Canada to the East, could the Rangers cobble a package anchored with Scott Gomez? Is Ottawa on Gomer's no-trade list? Assume Rangers would have to sweeten with prospect and a pick, right? [Newsday.com]

What would Minne-sota be able to give up that wouldn't completely disable them more than they are right now? Its not like Ottawa would want a handful of spare change for one of the better players in the league

ReplyDeleteHarding is only what his team made him. Yes, he is good, but the defensive style of Minne-sota makes him look a lot better than he is, sort of like Manny Fernandez. Any team that would give up anything significant for Harding without some serious extra compensation is foolish and asking for trouble
ReplyDeleteHeatley is solid. He's been in the league for a handful of seasons now, and he's tallied at least 30 goals every season. He was also the MVP of the all star game in Florida and scored 5 goals in that game. Good player, way more consistent than a player like Gaborik and isn't nearly as injury prone either. He's worth looking at.
