David Backes scores 4 goals in one game.
I have to admit that I am getting more and more excited about the St Louis Blues and the great young team that they have. I mean look at the players. Tonight former MSU-M Maverick star David Backes scored four (4) goals in one game. Backed scored a natural hat trick and then scored the game winning goal. That is impressive in my book. You have to wonder if anyone will want to face tem in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The team they beat the Detroit Redwings.
(Goal 2)
(Goal 3)
(Goal 4)

Technically, a natural hat trick would be three consecutive goals by the same player. It this game, Detroit chipped in two after Backes' 2nd goal; before his third.
ReplyDeleteRegardless, 4 goals in one game, at the Joe in Detroit, is something that very few players have ever done. Backes is solid, he's a true power forward and one might argue the best player to come out of Mankato's program in their relatively new hockey history. I would also like to see St Louis make the post season, they're a fun team to watch with all their youth. That top line of Backes, Oshie, and Berglund (two rookies and a sophomore) is a very dangerous foe for any opposing team.
ReplyDeleteActually, Davey scored 5 goals last nigth!!!!! McDonald's goal grazed and deflected off Backes shin pad.. But I guess he may not challenge the league to review it, as that's not the player or team he plays on mentality..
ReplyDeleteAlthough many media scribes and fans like me think he should or the Blues should.. Only a handfull of guys have scored 5 goals in a game...
As for the top line on the Blues, right now it's:
Perron-Berglund-Oshie
McDonald-Backes-Boyes
