The Brackets are now set for the first round of the WCHA playoffs.
(1) North Dakota (22-12-4)
(10) Michigan Tech (6-23-7)
(3) Wisconsin (17-15-4)
(8) Minnesota State (15-15-6)
(4) Colorado College (16-10-10)
(7) Minnesota-Duluth (16-12-8)
(5) Minnesota (15-12-7)
(6) St. Cloud State (18-5-3)
(9) Alaska-Anchorage (14-15-5)
(2) Denver (20-10-5)
I find that this season has been the closest race in WCHA history. Yes, #1, #2, and #9, #10 were separated a little bit, but 3rd all the way down to 8th were each separated by a mere 1 point in the standings! Man, points really were at a premium for those teams. Rough weekend for the Bulldogs, they get swept in Duluth by the fiesty Seawolves. That really plummeted them in the pairwise rankings. I could see any of the bottom seeds upsetting the top seeds in 2 or 3 games next weekend, except, for say, Tech over North Dakota. I could even see Anchorage beating Denver, the Seawolves split out there this season and have won four in a row...
ReplyDeleteLast year was really close well, I just wish were back to 8 teams having a possibility of making the NCAA tourney this season the WCHA will get 3-4 tops and maybe just two.
