UMD 3 UND 0
Cue the cliche' the Fighting Sioux ran into a smoking hot goalie tonight, nothing you can do but congratulate Stalock and have him take a bow. In talking with Sioux7 tonight I don't think UND played all that bad and I thought UND carried the play once they got going. The Sioux has to be better on the power play especially when they get handed a 5 minute power play.
Brad Eidsness needs to be more careful with the puck. That being said I can't remember the last time I saw a goalie leave the puck for opposition to have him beat the goalie back to the net and score.

Finley still sucks
ReplyDeleteHeheh Goon: "Cue the cliche' the Fighting Sioux ran into a smoking hot goalie tonight." I heard that as I walked out of the X.
ReplyDeleteSioux win tomorrow = good for you
Sioux loss tomorrow = knocks Gophers out = good for you too!
Live to fight for another day.
ReplyDeleteWell, for the third time in four seasons, the winner of the play in game has advanced to the title for a shot at the Broadmoor. The last two though, St Cloud in 2006 and Minnesota in 2008, couldn't get it done. Can the Bulldogs? I don't know. It's just so tough to beat three top tier teams in a row on three strait nights. That first period was absolute Race Horse hockey! I'm happy for them though. They were calling for Sandelin's head after beings swept at home by Anchorage and now they're in the Broadmoor Trophy game. There is nothing sweeter to knock of the Gophers one night and then the Sioux the next. One thing if for certain: they are now cemented into the NCAA tournament regardless of how they do tonight, assuring at least 3 WCHA teams are in.
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with the Sioux Losing, I think it's way TOO tough to win all the way out to the NCAA Title. Not very many teams can win the McNaughton, the Broadmoor, and the NCAA all in 1 season. I like their odds of winning the National Title now that they're not on a huge Winning streak.
ReplyDeleteThe Sioux played just fine. They had the same problem UMTC had the night before. They ran into a hot goalie, a defense that cleared rebounds well, and dumb-luck. The Sioux like UMTC had missed open nets (two I think, UMTC had one) but I suppose that happens in all games.
