Records in March

The Bruins Media Blog broke down the top 4 from each conference and their records during the month of March. So far the Bruins have kind of stumbled in March. The Bruins are going to have to win some games down the stretch to keep their lead over the Devils.

East

1. Boston (3-5-0)
2. New Jersey (5-1-0)
3. Washington (3-4-1)
4. Philadelphia (4-4-0)

West
1. Detroit (5-1-1)
2. San Jose (3-3-1)
3. Calgary (3-5-0)
4. Chicago (3-4-0)

  1. the sharks have clinched a playoff spot with 14 games left. that's pretty amazing.

with only 45 wins, they still can't touch the record for most wins in a season, which i believe is 65, but being a fan of stats, i'm curious to know what the record is for number of games remaining once a team has clinched a playoff berth. i would assume 14 is close to the record, but maybe not.

  2. Those are pretty alarming stats. The only two teams in the top 4 of each conference that are above .500is Detroit and New Jersey so far in March. I would have never thought that. That tells me there's parity in the NHL and that even the so called "bottom feeders" are competing. Even the lowly Shittsburgh Penguins are on a terror with Cindy and Molly leading the way!
