(read the whole article here) Game officials Brad Shepherd and C.J. Beaurline gave Mullen a five-minute slashing major penalty and a 10-minute game misconduct at the conclusion of the game. They then asked Greg Shepherd and league commissioner Bruce McLeod to view a video replay of the incident to see if additional penalties were required.
The league and the University of Denver have discussed the situation since Monday, and the matter was being resolved Wednesday, said Nielson. An official statement from the WCHA is expected Thursday, said Greg Shepherd.
According to the Sioux fan's favorite Denver Post beat writer Mike Chambers it appears that Mullen will likely be suspended. So if my team is the Sioux Fighters is Denver the slashing hacks? Seems to be a pattern developing here.
DU senior defenseman Patrick Mullen is likely to join sophomore blue-liner Chris Nutini (upper-body injury) in the press box Friday night when the Pioneers visit Colorado College in a key WCHA game at the World Arena.
Mullen took a slashing major and game misconduct in the waning seconds of Saturday’s 4-2 loss at Minnesota-Duluth. Apparently that wasn’t enough, given that the game ended before his punishment began.
“It has not yet been established. There is a good chance he will be suspended (but) we haven’t determined yet how long the suspension will be,” DU coach George Gwozdecky said before practice Wednesday.
Have you seen the slash and/or know what people are saying who did see it? From what I've read, it sounds like a suspension is warranted, but who knows. Weird that this is being handled in such a dragged out way. It's Wednesday for God's sake.
ReplyDeleteI am trying to get video for the slash but no one has it. I am shocked that the suspension is taking so long. I am sure DU is probably fighting the suspension.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I head it was a vicious slash but then why let Schack walk away scott free that's my beef. I am all for disciplining player that do acts of thuggery.
HWY 2 and 35 is Petersberg? I have shot many of ducks in that area.
ReplyDeleteA ton of my relatives live around Michigan, North Dakota. Good hunting around there. Some big deer.
ReplyDeleteLast year was the first time I didn't hunt around that area. We got a hunting shack by Starkweather. I almost got run over by a huge 8 point deer one time jumping a slough near Michigan.
ReplyDeleteIt's even more fun when you have to poke 'em w/ your gun to get 'em to move cuz ya almost stepped on 'em.
ReplyDeleteMy husband has land up by Gilby so I haven't hunted up in Michigan for a while. They get a little crazy up there. There's supposedly some "year-round" hunters up there that they haven't caught yet.
Michigan it is. Now in Lakewood, CO so I like to go and give LetsGoDU hell once in awhile. Finally got myself a "handle" after going anonymous for a few years. I was not a hunter myself, but it is a great season with all of the license plates that come through. My form of hunting is trying to find my disobedient golf ball.
