Check out Lucia's comments.

Props to Amy for the Video. So did Don Lucia condone Brian Schack's Todd Bertuzzi style attack on Channing Boe? I wonder if tDon will be getting a call from the league office this week? Seems to be a common thread developing here Don, it is not just the other teams in the WCHA but your team as well. Go ahead recruit a bunch of tough guys. Seriously! How many more hacks do you need on your team? You have ready have Ryan Flynn and Brian Schack.

Here are just a few examples of the Gophers getting involved with the extra after the whistle stuff, maybe it's not just the big bad Sioux. (example one) (example 2)

  1. Great examples of typical Goofer announcers. "Too many Sioux players on the ice." I am sure with a 5-0 lead, UND had all too many reason to start in. NOT.

  3. I heard that Barriball's Dad had a very funny interview. Did anyone see that? Something about how his kid is going to keep playing as long a he can even though he gets cheap shots all game every game and no one does anything about it.

  4. Hum, interesting take since his son was right in the middle of it up in Grand Forks when the Goofs played the Sioux. Yeah uh.

I am not sure what he expects if and when he goes to the NHL?

  5. Well to be completely honest about it, someone did go after Barribel right after his little snowflake innocently slashed Hextall.

So you can see where he's coming from.

  6. I don't think Lucia's comments were that off-base. The reffing the second half of the season has been ridiculously minimal. Especially after how they called everything at the beginning of the season. Lucia's problem is that he has never recruited that kind of team so his "finesse" players have to resort to cheap shots instead of playing tougher hockey. (Stoa jumping on Hextall while he was on the ground was ridiculous . . . if the guy's lippin' off, go fight him and get him and yourself kicked out. Fire up your team. But they don't recruit guys who think like that.) They are completely lost playing that kind of game. I'm just glad that the crazy stuff is starting to happen all around the league instead of just during a couple of Sioux games. That way the League can't stick their heads in the sand and say it's just a Sioux thing. :)

  7. Hoogsteen I see your point the thing that pissed me off the most is Lucia condoning the incident. IMHO I compare that to the Todd Bertuzzi incident. Schack is lucky he didn't do any tramatic damage to Boe's brain.

I have watched a lot of hockey over the years but I have only seen something like that just a few times.

The thing that I think is funny is we are lectured all the time that the Sioux are the problem. This season it appears that the team that is the common denominater is the Goofs.

  8. Good points. I actually didn't see the incident, so I would most likely agree about that. I'm just sayin' they don't know how to play tougher w/o getting cheaper. Obviously it's escalating.

Love your blog, man. I get bored at work. :)
