* Sioux junior forward Chris VandeVelde of Moorhead said his favorite memory of past series with the Gophers was the North Dakota sweep of the U at Mariucci his freshman year. “Obviously it’s a rivalry,” he said. “Both teams are going to want it really bad. They are a play-making team, very talented. They have some high-end guys over there.”

* Senior defenseman Brad Miller of North Dakota on the rivalry with the Gophers: “It for sure will be heated.” … He was asked if there may be any carryover from the last game they played when 17 penalties were called and 160 minutes of penalties were assessed. “To forsee any incidents like that, I don’t know,” he said.
