The Fighting Sioux have scored 18 goals in three games and appear to be awaking from their offensive slumber as they hang ten on the Crimson tonight. No folks that is not a misprint, that actually happened.
A trio of seniors came up big tonight; Matt Watkins and Ryan Martens both had four point nights (2-2-4) and Andrew Kozek chipped in three points (1-2-3) and the Fighting Sioux sent the home town Harvard fans to the exits early.
Positives from the evening.
~Sioux score 4 goals on the power play.
~Sioux give up one goal on the evening.
~Sioux fans favorite whipping boys Jake Marto +4 and Derrick LaPoint +1 were a combined +5 tonight.
~A defenseman other than Miller or Genoway recorded points on the blue line tonight. Jones scored his first career goal in 142 games and Corey Fienhage recorded an assist tonight.
~Watkins and Kozek doubled their season point totals tonight.
~Brad Eidsness continues to show he is the man between the pipes as he improved his season line to: 6-5-1 GAA 2.65 SV% .910. Yet there will be a few fans that will want Walksi to play.
~Brad Miller has quietly climbed to second in points on the Sioux roster 4-9-13.

End of Game
Zach Jones scored? Now I've seen everything.
ReplyDeleteAnd who rags on Marto? Personally I think he's their second best D behind Genoway. (I'm not counting Finley since who knows when he'll be back)
Hey Goon!
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff as always. I ran the numbers on Eidsness since he came in for Walski on November 14th:
Record: 3-2-1
Goals-against avg: 1.85
Save percentage: .936
That says it all for me.

I could see them losing 2-1 tonight.
ReplyDeleteI'm excited for tonight, but again, not optimistic. Good work Goon man.
ReplyDeleteDear Goon:
ReplyDeleteWhy was The Moose a linesman for this game?
Your friend,
Boosh
Dave those are really good numbers for a starting goalie. :)
