So the NCAA isn't a place to develop into the Pro's?
In lieu of some idiot that told me the NCAA isn't the best place for future NHL players, and then for the sole argument of which school has developed more players into the NHL? I decided to compile some stuff. Now keep in mind this list is of NCAA Schools that had the most players who played in the NHL in 07-08, which by the total of players is 253! 253 players, meaning I could field 11 and half teams in the NHL with former NCAA players :
16(North Dakota) Drew Stafford,David Hale,Ryan Bayda, Jonathan Toews, Matt Greene, Brady Murray, Brandon Bochenski, Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, Jason Blake, Matt Smaby, Ryan Johnson, Matt Jones, Brian Lee, Mike Commodore(Shocked at the low count, but understandable they rebuilt from their last championship, and 11 of them joined the NHL within the past 4 years. I'll go with 7 Great NHL'ers in this crowd)

Check out this blog post.
Check out this great post by BrettB of St Louis Simply Put. Yep the NCAA is a horrible way to develop talent for the NHL ranks. You would have to be an idiot to infer something as outrageous and ridiculous as this person claimed that the NCAA is bad at developing NHL talent.

And thats not counting Oshie. Btw, is he injured?? I saw he didn't play last night. I know he smoked his leg the other night but I though he returned to that game. Anyone?
ReplyDeleteOshie had some bad luck back in November when a Penguin slipped on the ice, and landed on Osh's ankle. He came back exactly 5 weeks later, and in the middle of the 2nd game the cartiledge(sp) popped (which is normal for that injury, unfortunately it hurts more then when you originally hurt the ankle the 1st time. Side note: Crosby had a similiar injury last year, only Crosby's a wuss unlike Osh, and sat out a ton more games).
ReplyDeleteBack on task, Osh left the game in the 2nd (When it happened) but returned for the 3rd. The Blues then wanted him to rest it again for a week (even though he's skating). So it's merely precautionary, as if you read the Blues forum (www.stltoday.com/sports/blues) they're dubbing him as the next Captain.
ps. Goon I can now cross off "Make it on Goon's World" off my bucket list. Thanks man! :)
cool thanks
