Why is this obstruction holding?
Herald photo by John Stennes Can someone please tell me why this isn't a penalty? Checking the box score from last night's game I do not see John Schwarz's name for holding. This picture is a perfect example of what we have to witness every night in the WCHA. Now I can see why Duncan was getting upset with the officiating. In the NHL if you hand comes off of your stick you are whistled for a penatly.

I thought that was a penalty. Duncan seemed to be getting called for holding guys like that last night.
ReplyDeleteReally, if "you" hand comes off your stick you are whistled for a "penatly"?
ReplyDeleteI completely agree that the reffing in the WCHA does suck, and there are bad and missed calls for each side. Most of the time they do not cancel themselves out either, but if you want to make a post that people are going to take seriously, use a spellcheck, or at least pass 3rd grade.
You can join my facebook group to let others know of you belief as well, if you like.. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=11693530063
Watching the game in the zam area last night was eye opening to see how dumb the refs can be. I was happy to see Duncan finally push a guy down in the first period. Friday night they were going after Oshie, then last night they were going after Duncan. Tonight, who will they go for? Probably both. I'm sure the refs are happy with reffing the series to a third game, because that's what they did. Not to say a call would have allowed the Sioux, or even Tech to score, but something needed to be called at times. I really hope something is done in the off season about the refs.
ReplyDeleteIt makes my day when people criticize other people's grammar and/or spelling, then go on to make a grammar and/or spelling mistake in their own post.
ReplyDeleteIf it was my blog, I'd probably use spellcheck. However, this isn't my blog, and Goon is free to do whatever he likes.
GO SIOUX!
I remember that particular play very clearly because at the time I asked out loud, "How is that NOT a penalty?" It was obviously an open ice hit from behind, which is supposed to be a 2-minute minor.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, even when the penalties are called, the Sioux have to cash in on their power play opportunities. They did in Friday's game. In Saturday's game, they didn't and the Huskies did. That was the difference in the game.
Jeff, I thought maybe I had botched this post, it happens for everyone from time to time.
ReplyDeleteI wrote the post after working all night. I went back and checked the spell check and there isn't one miss spelled word that I can see.
I just hope the Sioux can get the win tonight. They should be fired up.
Block, I wonder if we get another ref for tonights game? We could only do worse with the other choices available.
ReplyDeleteGoon, I wasn't referring to your original post. I've move past your bad spelling and grammar;)
ReplyDeleteI was referring to Matt's post that was giving you a bad time for leaving the "r" off of "you." Unfortunately after reading his post again, I know realize that he may have been making fun of you again for leaving off the "r" instead of making an actual grammatical mistake.
He must be a disgruntled Husky fan.
Sorry Jeff I meant to direct that at the disgrunted husky fan.
ReplyDeleteOh Goon, the Sioux would never do anything like that :D
ReplyDeleteBut yes, I agree, the officiating sucks. I think your explaination was on the back of the ref's jersey though
This is just awful. :( How could any of my players do something like this to those angelic Sioux players?
ReplyDeleteHow could the refs not call each and everything thing they see, or maybe in this case - don't see? Bastards!
Hey boosh if you go back and look at the picture it doesn't look good if you know what I mean? :)
