HeidiSioux62 responds to the INCH podcast.

Here is an email that I got from HeidiSioux62 this morning. HeidiSioux said I could post it. I think she brings up good points/stats. I also listened to the INCH podcast in question; lets just say that they do make for some interesting points that will spark some interesting conversations, I also think they are highly biased towards the CCHA; go figure. I think that what they intended to do, spark conversation.

One of the guys (I didn't catch his name) goes so far to suggest that Miami will be the next National Champion. Why wouldn't they? Miami is destroying some really lousy teams that they were supposed to beat and have been doing it in semi impressive fashion. The coolest part of the show was the fan emails most of which were upset readers. I also think I heard MeaneGirl's email to the INCH guys taking them to task for not including the MTU Huskies in the INCH poll. Thanks to Heidi Sioux for submitting this post.

Hey Goon,
I originally put this together because I was irritated with the INCH podcast and after reading your blog this morning I got irritated with the CCHA, so I added Miami, Michigan and Michigan State. According to these stats, the only teams that look even halfway credible vs the WCHA are New Hampshire (they've pretty much owned us) and MAYBE Michigan (however I sure don't get the feeling that they are any better than the WCHA)
I am way too lazy to try to make this info coherent, but if you would like to use it in your blog or to leave comments on the CCHA bloggers' sites - GO FOR IT.
I hope you find this interesting.

  1. just wait, Miami will be in the Frozen Four and you'll be making every excuse you can for WCHA teams. Just accept it -- Miami is very good. They are a complete team offensively, defensively, and in net. Oh, and Miami's best player, Nate Davis, is healthy again. Miami has played without him all season and produced phenomenal results. Together with Ryan Jones and Jeff Zatkoff, Miami has 3 players worthy of the Hobey between last year and this year. Keep up the crying though Sioux fans, you're starting to sound like Hillary Clinton. Maybe you're looking for sympathy votes?

  2. g,

How do you know that Miami is good? I haven't seen them play and their win/loss record is impressive, however it looses some luster when you look at the competition. Miami has played 26 games and a total of 5 games against USCHO top 20 ranked teams. Their record is 3-1. They have 1 win and 1 loss to Notre Dame, 2 wins against Michigan State and an overtime win against the 9th place team in the WCHA, ST. Cloud. They also have 2 losses to unranked teams (one of the losses was to a pairwise team). Miami played total of 7 games against teams in the top 25 of the pairwise.

On the other hand UND has played 25 games and of those 17 were against USCHO top 20 teams (I guess that will happen when 7 of the 10 teams in the league are in the top 20) and their record is 9-7-1, and of their full schedule, they have only lost 1 game to an USCHO unranked team. UND has played 23 games against teams in the top 25 in the pairwise.

I do not know if UND is better than Miami, they have not played each other and the only common oppotants have been Michigan State (which both teams beat) and St. Cloud who Miami beat in overtime and UND split. I do know however, that I would be VERY upset if UND did not have the same record if they were playing the same opponents that Miami plays

  3. he Heidi great points... I can't wait till these CCHA boys eat some crow, I have heard how UND isn't the team they were before, hell their defense goaltending and scoring probably as balanced as I have seen in years. I would love to see a match up Miami to go to the Frozen Four.

Just for the Record Zatkoff was Frazee's back up at the WJC, what does that say. Ha, ha, ha...
