Here is how I rank the top ten returning WCHA goalies for the up coming season.
1. Michale-Lee Teslak MTU .916 save % and 2.00 gaa
2. Rob Nolan MTU .910 save % 2.26 gaa
3. Peter Mannino DU .919 save % 2.29 gaa
4. Phil Lamoureux UND .913 save % 2.42 gaa
5. Shane Connelly UW .952 save % 1.11 gaa
6. Jeff Frazee UM .903 save % 2.35 gaa
7. Mike Zacharias MSU-M .892 % 3.02 gaa
8. Alex Stalock UMD .889 save % 3.16 gaa
9. Jon Olthuis UAA .883 save % 3.83 gaa
10. Jase Weslosky SCSU .899 save % 2.67 gaa
First off Connelley is no Brian Elliot but he does have the same goalie coach that Elliot had. The MTU tandem of Teslak and Nolan are the two headed monster that most teams would love to have on their team but dread having to face them. Jeff Frazee is going to get a sun burn on the back of his neck from the red light going off all season after the Gophers lost one of the best defensemen in the WCHA, David Fischer and Brian Schack are no where near the talent of Alex Goligoski.
Alex Stalock is the most talented goalie in the league.
ReplyDeleteI heard he is good but talent doesn't allways win games. :) UMD is going to face a lot of rubber this season again and they are going to have to have solid goaltending.
ReplyDeleteYou don't even have Dan Tormey on the list?!?! (insert forehead flick HERE!!) What the hell Goon?!?! Have you been eating crack for breakfast again. Tormey should be on the list for sure, as I'm sure you'll see him and Zacharias switching off nights and BOTH deserve to be higher than where you have Zach now.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what the hell on Lammy? No way is that drama queen #4. You are dreaming. Both he and Stalock will self destruct sometime during the season. Total head case drama queens.
Weslosky should be higher too..I think people are going to be surprised by him. Granted, he's no Bobby but he's got talent.
Frazee...well, he's a head case too and I think he'll also self destruct off and on. The kid can't take any harassment.

Lammy a drama queen lol, that is why he is only 4th. I think the best goalies are the two from MTU and no I am not just sucking up to mean girl they are pretty damn good, they just got no one to score so they are going to play that god aweful hockey of clutch and grab.

ReplyDeleteAnyways, I know the list is just your opinion but I think you are being influenced by the numbers. Take Jase for example...have you seen him play? He didn't play as much because of Bobby so I think people don't realize he's good and his numbers don't look as good because of lack of playing. One bad game really hurts a guy when you don't have lots of others to counter act it.
As for Tormey, you never did even TRY to justify why he's on the list. I would like to hear that one, because I know you've seen him play. He should be on there way before Olthuis.
I agree on the MTU guys though. They are pretty dang good....plus Rob Nolan is just hot:)
Lammy...well, like I said, he's going to be the downfall of your team this year. With the crap he pulls it's going to be one thing after another and I think everyone (fans, coaches, players, refs) are going to get sick of it in a hurry. Same with Stalock. Both UND and UMD will suffer because of their issues. Granted, both have a ton of talent, but I bet that their personalities end up screwing each team over.
