Check this out. Nick Name arguments. Classic.

I found this on line at: Sioux Sports It brings up some interesting points I never considered. Some of them are really good.

Wall Street Journal Opinion

I have never understood the objection to using these names as mascots and team nicknames. The names are used to inspire pride, teamwork and inspiration. There is nothing degrading about it.

But if they are so degrading to these groups, why do not speak out for the other groups:

New Orleans Saints - offensive to Christians

New Jersey Devils - offensive to Satanic cults

Boston Celtics - offensive to the Irish

Minnesota Vikings - offensive to our Nordic brothers

Bruins, Tigers, Dolphins, Grizzlies, etc--all offensive to PETA

New England Patriots - offensive to all the America haters on the left!

Dallas Cowboys - offensive to Indians!

Calgary Flames - this is clearly offensive to the gay community

Edmonton Oilers - offensive to environmental wackos everywhere!!

Houston Texans - this is probably offensive to those who live in Texas!

New York Knicks - this is offensive to New Yorkers right now (but just because they're soooo bad)

Cincinnati Reds - offensive to our communist comrades out there

Los Angeles Dodgers - offensive to Bill Clinton and other draft dodgers!
