UND guts out win against Hated WCHA Rival the Golden Gophers.
Saturday night the Sioux took a much needed win and critical two point from the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Sioux killed off a 5 minute major for checking from behind and never let the Gophers retake the lead after killing the critical mistake by junior forward Erik Fabian. Fabian was kicked out of the game in the second period when he took a run at Gopher forward Danny Irmen.
UND snapped Minnesota's seven (7) game winning streak by scoring a timely 3rd period by super sophomore Travis Zajac with one minute and twenty two seconds left in the third period. The win was good news for the Fighting Sioux who rebounded nicely from a miserable showing on Friday night to split the important WCHA series. The Fighting Sioux played the weekend series without the services of Junior goalie Jordan Parise who stayed home after suffering a concussion a week earlier in practice.
