As always I include the INCH Power Rankings for conversation.

1. Miami
2. Denver
3. Wisconsin
4. North Dakota 2 Could the Fighting Sioux's upcoming playoff series with Minnesota be any more even? Not only do both teams have identical 1-1-2 marks against one another this season, but both the goals for and against (11-11) are also mirror images. 20-11-5 (15-10-3 WCHA) LAST WEEK: W vs. Michigan Tech, 5-1; W vs. Michigan Tech, 3-2. THIS WEEK: vs. Minnesota (WCHA First Round Series)
5. Yale

  1. Goals prior to the NCAA's: 1) Beat the Gophers, 2) win the series against the gophers, 3) beat the opponent in the play-in game, probably UMD, 4) beat the opponent in the semi-final game, probably DU, 5) win the championship game for the Broadmoor trophy, beating, probably, WI, and 6) earn a #1 seed in the NCAA's and be selected to play in the Xcel regional.

  2. Did anyone else catch Herr Direktor Sheppard define the rule for Goalie Interference on the Gopher Live pregame program on Sunday? Basically, he said the ruling has or has not changed over the years but now it is anytime a opponent in the crease and can BLOCK the goaltenders VIEW...no contact necessary! Even Mazzocco raised his eyebrows when Sheppard finished....like "really?" Frank asked him if the waive off of the MN goal in Friday night's game was a good call, and he said yes. Not very many gopher fans agreed with him, including Frankie and Dougie.

  3. Why does everyone assume that if the Sioux win their series they will be playing Thursday? Last time I checked this was the WCHA and 1-5 aren't guaranteed to win their series this coming weekend.

  4. I agree clown we should let the weekend play out before we re-do the brackets.

  5. That's why I said "probably". And these are "goals", not predictions, to achieve a #1 seed in the regionals. I also understand the one-game-at-a-time concept. I also understand the importance of goals. You're right if any of the bottom four teams win, then ND would not have to play the play-in game! If ND doesn't beat the gophers then they don't play in the WCHA tourney and they can scratch their goal of getting a number 1 seed.

  6. Good point Clown, but remember the Sioux also have to win their series with Goldy. I cannot stress how important game 1 on Friday is for all teams. Scoring first is also of very high significance, especially for the road teams.

  7. the only upset i can see realistically happening that will keep und out of the play-in game (provided und beats the gophers of course) is the mankato over st cloud match-up.

uaa is always at a serious disadvantage when playing on the road and michigan tech is, well, i'll leave it at that for politeness sake.

    go mavs and go sioux!

  8. There is no way I can see UAA beating the Badgers. They creamed UAA earlier in the season. I also think MSU-M will not beat the Huskies. The game is at the Concrete Center where they play pretty well.
