  1. At least the USA Today and USCHO polls got it mostly right.

  2. My biggest beef again is the ECAC teams being ranked so high again.

  3. In the minor leagues, Hamline, ranked 10th going in, swept visiting 4th ranked Adrian and ended the Bulldogs' 37 game winning streak on Jan 1 & 2, 4-3 and 7-3. The Pipers sophomore goaltender, Beau Christian, of Moorhead, MN, had a great series. The Adrian team is composed mostly of Ontario junior vets and is big, fast and forechecks ferociously, especially on the penalty kill. Hamline dodged a bullet. Unfortunately, we won't get to see Hamline go against last year's D-III finalist Gustavus Adolphus until Feb. 12 & 13. Hopefully, they'll both be on their game then. It should be fun to watch.

  4. Hmmmm, wonder which league is the strongest this year???

  5. Bucky, I was thiking the same thing. WCHA hockey is awesome.

  6. I only have one problem: Bemidji State being ranked so highly (still). At some point we all would find out that they were not who we thought they were. Agreed with Bucky though, the WCHA is again back on top. 4 of the top 5 ranked teams in the nation, with a total of 6 in the top 20. Not bad at all.

  7. Your biggest gripe is against a future WCHA team, give me a break! Someone has to be ranked 10th. You actually think that Yale and Cornell deserve to be ranked so high or Ferris State or the Bobcats? Please. Why don't you just say that there is a serious drop in talent after your precious WCHA teams in the top ten instead of being such a BSU hater. Oh and Michigan State who is ranked ahead of BSU has a poorer record against the same teams Minnesota, Northern Michigan, Miami and Western Michigan. Elitist people like you give the WCHA a bad name and make most people outside the conference resent you. It is not jealousy either so don't even try that one.

  8. Goon, I have to give Yale credit. While the Badgers were down 3 key players at the WJC, Yale brought in on sunday night, and I've gained some respect for them. Not necessarily the ECAC as a whole, but I have NO problem w/ Yale being ranked where they are. On the other hand, I think Ferris State is WAY overrated.

I think the WCHA gets 5 in the NCAA tourney this year. The CCHA is weak (Miami and Mich St are the only good teams) and Hockey East is a little down this year.

  9. Per INCH (sorry Goon):

"On the strength of a pair of convincing wins over Michigan Tech and Rensselaer at the Great Lakes Invitational, Michigan State leapt past Bemidji State in this week’s INCH Power Rankings and both voter-driven polls. The Beavers didn’t help their cause with a scoreless tie at CCHA bottom-feeder Western Michigan, but the decision to flip the Spartans ahead of BSU wasn’t as easy as you might think.

In a comparison of common opponents, Bemidji State has fared better than Michigan State. Both teams have played Miami, Minnesota, Northern Michigan, and Western Michigan thus far—the Beavers are 4-1-2 against that group, whereas the Spartans are 4-3-0. That’s not to say MSU doesn’t deserve to be ranked ahead of BSU, but for us, it was a closer call than would appear at first glance."

BSU is playing the schedule they were dealt. Lets face it, the CHA only has 18 games, so you still have 16 games to fill in and the "super powers" only have so many open dates, so they have to fill in with who they can get. They are beating the teams on their schedule (for the most part). If you reduce the CHA schedule down so they are not playing those "weak teams" so many times, then they would have 20-22 games to fill in.

So, WCHAdominates, how would you remedy the situation, other than saying 14-4-2 isn't good enough?

  10. Millsy, he would just say to get rid of BSU all together. He clearly is showing his bitterness that BSU is even joining his precious WCHA like somehow the league will be worse off with them in it.

  11. Millsy and Charles consider the source. WCHAdominates is a SCSU fan, a team that has never won a NCAA game in their history, the Beavers run last season surpassed the Huskies NCAA tourney wins in one weekend.

In looking at SCSU scheduled I have noticed that the Huskies aren't playing the Beavers this season so it's easy to complain about the Beavers this year, but if my memory is clear I think the Beavers beat BSU last season...

I am going to the Jan 22nd game to see the Beavers and the Dogs play in the glass.
