Of course there are a few pundits that will still say that BSU is a overrated team and the CHA is a joke but they sure have taken it to the AHA this season with a 4-0 record against them. Ironically, the WCHA has a 1-2 record against the CHA as well. Both Minnesota and the big lumbering team from UAA lost to CHA teams.
On to next week's rankings
So here we are; the Beavers will probably be ranked in the top ten this week again. The Beavers completed the mission and were successful by going into Mariucci Arena and getting a split with the Gophers. The Beavers also broke a 0-7 record against the Gophers by getting a win on the Gophers turf. So the question is; are the Beavers for real or are the Gophers a bad team? I think you could say both. The Beaves have come a very long way from the days of the late 1990's.

Gophers looked flat last night & hit 3 posts. I thought they hustled a good deal more the night before. I think they will continue to to improve.
ReplyDeleteIt's getting to be apparent that the Gophers are just a bad team, which is mind boggling with all the talanted players on the team....well talented on paper I should say. The effort they showed this weekend was pathetic, looked like they were just going through the motions. If they play that way against UMD this weekend they will get crushed, unless they can SOMEHOW contain UMD's first line.
ReplyDeleteAnyone catch the postgame on FSN? Schroeder pretty much threw his goaltending under the bus and blamed them for the loss. The goaltending was not good but the D was terrible and there were plenty of turnovers created by him as well. He was also quoted in the Strib saying his cross-checking penalty at the end of the second was "weak." There is nothing weak about calling a cross-check when it clearly happened after the whistle and the player was already down, stupid penalty and stupid time to take one too. He should have just been a man and said we got beat because we didn't play well instead of these other excuses.

ReplyDeleteTo accuse the Goaltending as being responsible for the loss is short sided as well. You can see why he dropped in the draft.

I seen that and that Notre Dame and Michigan are still in the tolp 15 with not very good records.
ReplyDeleteYou have to wonder if scheduling games against the weak sister Gophers is going to hurt Bemidji in the power at the end of the season.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Bemidji wants to help UMtc get back on their feet, but they should be concerned that playing lesser opponents in non conference games can hurt you.
