Player of the Year: Alex Stalock, Duluth
Rookie(s) of the Year: Patrick Wiercioch, Denver and Brad Eidsness
Coach of the Year: Dave Hakstol

Analysis: I was looking at some of the WCHA beat writers picks for their WCHA players selections and I think that the Rookie of the Year in the WCHA is going to be Denver University Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch. This kid is hands down the best rookie defenseman in the WCHA and was ranked second over all in the league for defensman scoring. I have seen a lot of people saying that Jordan Schroeder is the best Rookie in the league and I disagree. I think Brad Eidsness and Patrick Wiercioch have meant more to their respective teams and made bigger contributions to their teams success on the ice Eidsness and Wiercioch's teams finish 1st and 2nd. Schroeder's team backed into the fifth spot in the WCHA.

Here are Chris Dilks WCH picks.

Here are Gandalf The Red from 60 Minutes, No Alibis, No Regrets.

  2. You should have been a rebel and chose Mike Louwerse for the Rookie team. That kid never gets the recognition he deserves.

Also, nice job on picking Mouillierat. I hope he gets it on the write it. It's total BS that the WCHA snubbed him.

Your player of the year SUCKS. Seriously?!? Christ, even some of your own players deserve it over that punk.

  3. Oh, and nice job leaving the Mankato D player off your list. He too is overrated and only has so many damn assists because he shoots the puck from the point a zillion times and always goes 10 feet wide and then others grab the rebound and stuff it in. It's funny to watch the players actually turn TOWARDS the boards cuz they know he's going to miss! It's not like he racked up those assists actually PASSING to his teammates.

    See ya Saturday:)

  4. Why is Hextall so overlooked? Even by people who follow the Sioux. The guy is solid on both ends of the rink night in and night out. He isn't challenging for a scoring title but he still put up solid numbers for a freshman. Plus he plays like a vet, he looks like a 4th year player out there. I thought he was way better than Gregoire. I really enjoyed watching him this year.

  5. that player of the year helped UMD beat C.C. last weekend.

  6. I disagree with some of your picks there Goon. No way Lasch and Roe are on the second team. Roe needs to be up there on the first team. He finished tied for second in the entire country in point scoring. One could also argue that Raboin should be on the first team too over Genoway, based on points. I think Marc Cheverie also deserves some credit here as rookie of the year. In my opinion though, Schroeder deserves it. You need to pick these players regardless of where their team finished in the standings, which you did with Stalock, but you didn't do in many of the other picks.

  7. I imagine you will post on this but I wanted to point it out anyway since I have heard so much crap about the quality of both UND and it's hockey players:

    UND - 11 on WCHA All-Academic team

    UMN - 6

    WI - 5

Great job on and off the ice!

  8. ...I imagine you must view the Gophers as the universal measuring stick because you feel so compelled so frequently to compare the Flirting Sioux to the Gophers.

...I guess that's quite a compliment to the Gophers (coming from such a serious Flirting Sioux hockey fan)!

And while you're at it, make sure to pretend to be objective when you fling some of your subjective matter around! :)

  9. Skippy not everyone likes your stupid team. LOL, Skippy, Skippy, Skippy your team is not a measuring stick for any thing but the pinnacle of Mediocrity.

  10. My bad on Cheverie. He is a second year player. It just seemed like he was a rookie because he never got any playing time while Mannino was still there. Let's throw Eidsness in there instead of Cheverie, he had a pretty good rookie season. Kurt Davis has a stellar season too for Mankato, hard to leave him off the list. This Charlie character must really be stupid, he's making another cased for "moron of the week."

  11. I left Davis off the list because I didn't feel he is as good as some of the other people that I picked. It was between him and Brad Miller on my list so I picked him. it was the homer in me.

Charlie the moron of the week. LOL, I don't know if I can give that to a 12 year old can I?

  12. Oh Great Goonizzle
Say what you like, but if one looks at your posts, one sees the thoughts of a person who for some reason feels compelled to very frequently compare his favorite team against the GOPHERS.

If the Gophers represent nothing but mediocrity to you, why do you not ignore them?

...Your blog posts are a bread crumb trail that can only take one back to a mind that seems to sit atop a shoulder that has a chip on it regarding The Gophers!

P.S. Keep up the bad karma you are sprinkling on The Flirting Sioux by wishing ill on a team you allegedly don't care about!

  13. It would be a huge honor to be 'Moron of the Year' on a site of this caliber!

I have my fingers crossed that you anoint me with said recognition.

  14. Skippy, Skippy, Skippy, don't you have something better to do than polute my blog? The others that post here actually contribute to the meaningful conversation. I don't you are worthy of Moron of the week. I have a different honor for you.

  15. Skippy (Charlie) we can take your team apart and not have a chip on our shoulder.

  16. WCHAdominatrix,

I made the same mistake with Chevy earlier in the year, and I actually double-checked before I commented.
