Jeff Dubay Charged in Ramsey County District Court.

I have been researching the Minnesota Drug laws and if look at the Minnesota Statutes152.025 Controlled Substance Crime in the 5th degree, this doesn't look TOO bad in the grand scheme of things, it could be worse. Breaking it down further he was caught with .45 grams of crack cocain that comes out to about 0.15 ounces.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out in the courts, now that we have a better idea of what happened. I do wonder if the Jeff will be able to remain as the co-host of KFAN show PA and Dubay. From a college hockey standpoint; I can't imagine Paul Allen spending a lot of time talking about college hockey if Jeff Dubay isn't going to be on the show.
Police: Twin Cities radio host admits to using crack --- By Trisha Volpe, KARE 11 News
Popular Twin Cities radio host was charged on Wednesday with possession of cocaine. KFAN radio host Jeff Dubay was arrested on October 15th in Maplewood when he was seen throwing various items out a passenger window of a car.

Maplewood Police retrived a pipe and plastic baggie containing what was later determined to be .45 grams cocaine about 30 yards away from the vehicle.

According to the complaint, Dubay stated he loaned his truck to a crack dealner over the weekend and the "rock of crack" was left behind by the dealer.

Dubay did admit that the pipe belonged to him, though.

Dubay said he was in Maplewood to pay a drug debt of $200 and later admitted that he started using crack last year but put himself in treatment.

The arresting officer made the traffic stop because the registered owner of the car had a suspended driver's license. Prior to turning on the squad car lights is when Dubay was seen throwing items from the car.

After pulling over, Dubay admitted that his driver's license was suspended but denied throwing anything out the window, according to the criminal complaint.

The complaint also states that Dubay told officers, "this incident would ruin his life."

Dubay has co-hosted the "PA & Dubay show" with Paul Allen on KFAN-AM since 1998, but has not been on the air since his arrest.

Dubay is scheduled to make an initial appearance in Ramsey County District Court November 24th at the Law Enforcement Center.

Here is what the Startribune had to say on the matter.
According to the charges:

Dubay, 40, of Plymouth, admitted to police that he was in Maplewood to pay a $200 drug debt on the afternoon of Oct. 15 and that he started using crack last year but then sought treatment.

At first, Dubay denied to police throwing anything from the vehicle and said that the incident would ruin his life.

Then, after being advised of his rights, he later told police that the rock of crack he threw from the vehicle near English Street and Hwy. 36 was not his but belonged to a drug dealer who had recently borrowed the vehicle. He admitted that the pipe was his.

Officers recovered the crack in a plastic baggie and the pipe on the ground nearby.

  1. It sounds like Jeff's big problem is that he's not a reader of mine.
