Half of the Field is set

MSU tops Maine

The Spartans beat the Black Bears in game one 4-2. Kind of a boring game; Maine came out like gang busters and then MSU shut them down after that using the trap. I am not too upset with the results because I would honestly love to see an all western final with UND and MSU repeating the 1987 title game. First things first; UND has a tough task ahead of them when they face off against the Eagles tonight.

I am biased and I just don't want to see a Eastern team win the NCAA title. While most Sioux fans respect the Eagles and they are a heated rival, I want to see the WCHA retain the title as the NCAA champions.

Hats off to Maine they are a good team that plays a solid game of hockey. I really didn't see any flaws in their game other than they needed to be more balanced on offense. It baffled me to see Maine fans calling for their coach's head earlier in the season. In my opinion Maine's coach is doing a pretty good job, he has taken his teams to the NCAA Frozen Four two years in a row.
