Why Do I Hunt. This sums it up pretty well.

Why do I hunt? It’s a lot to think about, and I think about it a lot. I hunt to acknowledge my evolutionary roots, millennia deep, as a predatory omnivore. To participate actively in the bedrock workings of nature. For the atavistic challenge of doing it well with an absolute minimum of technological assistance. To learn the lessons, about nature and myself, that only hunting can teach. To accept personal responsibility for at least some of the deaths that nourish my life. For the glimpse it offers into a wildness we can hardly imagine. Because it provides the closest thing I’ve known to a spiritual experience. I hunt because it enriches my life and because I can’t help myself…because I was born with a hunter’s heart.” – David Peterson, "A Hunter’s Heart", 1996

UND wins against Harvard. A win at home.

Finally the UND hockey team gets a win a home and now won 2 of 3 at the Ralph, beating BSU and Harvard. For the season UND is 5-6-0 at home and 7-1-1 on the road. While some might say that the road record has been inflated by playing lower division WCHA teams; UMD, MTU and SCSU, winning on the road is must if your team wants to go far in the NCAA tourney.

NCAA playoff hockey played during the monts of March and April is played on the road. This is a fact unless your Minnesota, Michigan or Michigan State, In March and April there are no more home games. So the NCAA; starting in the next couple of years will no longer hold regional games on campus. The NCAA wants games played on neutral sites, like Bradly Center, X-Cel Energy center.

I think this is a direct result of Cornell whinning about having to go to Minnesota and play a regional game in Minnesota's back yard. I personally think Coach Schaffer is a whinner his team wouldn't have beated the Gophers no matter where they would have played. Cornell was an over rated team in a weak conference the EZAC. Even Barry Melrose played on this a bit during the Frozen Four games on ESPN.

Sure UND will get to play some tougher opponents on their arena in the second half of the season. However, winning home is a must and if you can't win at home during the regular season how are they going to win in the WCHA playoffs? UND plays MSU-Mankato, UMD, SCSU and MTU. 8 games against lesser teams. UND must go 6-2 in those games.

On Thursday night the UND hockey team stunk up the REA playing uninspired hockey and allowing a EZAC team to leave with a win. Unexceptable in my opinion. UND went to the NCAA playoffs last season on the tails of a well timed winning streak
