UND Hockey: Moron Ruins Moment of Silence at the Ralph

Tonight, during the pre-game ceremony, the UND hockey team and the REA had a moment of silence to honor DU head coach Jim Montgomery who lost his father earlier in the day. During the moment of silence for coach Montgomery, some, buffoon/moron from the student section decided to yell drunken barrage of profanity.

I hope this clown learned something tonight, have some class. It's not always about you. You disgraced the  University. As an alumnus of the University of North Dakota, I am embarrassed.

That person/moron that did this should be ashamed of themselves. You're stupidity and selfishness makes us look like a bunch of beer swilling, unwashed morons. Absolutely disgusting. They should ban you from the Ralph for the rest of the year. I agree with the UND players, what moron.

NCHC Hockey: A look at the Standings

The standing will probably change a few times before the season is over, you can bet on it. But UND takes the lead for now. Stay tuned, developing.

UND Hockey: Dave Hakstol mic'd up

I am not so sure that head coach Dave Hakstol would have done this 10 year ago, or even five years ago. I still watch with interest as Hakstol is interviewed on the bench during a hockey game.

Grand Forks has been named America's #1 Hockey Town.

Here's a new article that came out this week. I am sure the other 58 teams in college hockey will probably offer some argument to why this article is flawed. It looks like they might have a solid method of analyzing the different schools.
Data & Methodology

While the NHL is the premier hockey league in the U.S., there are several others with significant fan bases. In addition to all U.S. NHL towns, we considered every U.S. town or city with a team competing in America’s top two minor leagues (the American Hockey League (AHL) and the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL)) or in Division I NCAA hockey. That brought the total of towns in our study to 129.2 For each of those 129 towns we first looked at the overall quality of life enjoyed by residents. Specifically, to develop our Quality of Life Score we looked at the following five factors:

Violent Crimes per 100,000 people.

Property Crimes per 100,000 people.

Disposable Income (median income minus median housing costs).

Dining and Entertainment Establishments per 10,000 residents.

Unemployment Rate.3

USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll

UND returns to the top spot in the nation, but I wouldn't be surprised to see them drop after this weekend if they lose in Omaha. The only poll that matter is the Pairwise Ranking. After this weekend, UND is ranked second in that poll behind MSU-M.
