Grand Forks Man Hurt in Sioux-Gopher Hockey Fight Moved to Rehab

Sounds like the Jason Smith's condition is improving.
A Grand Forks man hurt in a fight after the Sioux-Gopher hockey game is still in the hospital but has been moved to Altru's rehab center.

34-year-old Jason Smith of Grand Forks was severely hurt in the fight.

Police say 28-year-old Peter Chwialkowski (fee-uh-cuss-key) hit 34 year old Jason Smith of Grand Forks.

Chwialkowski faces an aggravated assault charge.

He has been released after posting $1,000 cash bond.

According to Jason Smith's caringbridge site, during the fight he fell to the ground, hitting his head on the concrete.

The site says Smith had surgery to remove pieces of shattered skull and doctors inserted plates and 65 screws.

It says he will now have physical therapy, speech therapy and respiratory therapy for 8 hours each day. [WDAZ]

Paul Allen signed for 5 more years. (Dubay news)

Here is some good news for Vikings fans and for fans of the PA show.
Paul Allen's stay on KFAN's airwaves will be extended at least another five years.

Allen, the host of the mid-day show at the all-sports station and the play-by-play voice of the Vikings, signed a five-year contract extension to remain with the Clear Channel-owned property.
-----Snip-----
The announcement of Allen's contract extension comes a month after Clear Channel fired Allen's longtime co-host Jeff Dubay. That decision came after Dubay was charged with felony drug possession; he was accused of tossing crack cocaine and a pipe from his vehicle in Maplewood. Allen and Dubay had hosted the "PA and Dubay" show for 10 years.

Since Dubay's dismissal Allen has been working with producer Justin Gaard and a variety of guests.

"It's kind of on hold right now," Swedberg said when asked about a permanent co-host for Allen. "We're trying some different things. I think we're going to ride with this through the Vikings season and then kind of take a look at it."

From the article there is also some Jeff Dubay news as well.
Dubay hearing
Dubay made his first appearance in Ramsey County District Court on Friday and his case is being evaluated for pre-trial diversion. If he's accepted into diversion, that means the charges could be dismissed following completion of the program. Dubay is due back in court Dec. 19.

Update on Dubay (developing story)

This was posted over on Gopher Puck Live by Jeff Dubay's brother. I know a lot of Sioux fans read that site. It would be a good thing if true and I have no reason to doubt this story. Again we will see how this story develops.
As I've said before Jeff is my brother and here are some facts. It was NOT meth and no charges will be filed. The police report on the website was wrong, they typed in the wrong statute number which made it look a bit worse than it actually was. As far as his job with KFAN I have no idea what will happen with that.
